Rapture Questions:

This week we were getting questions about the pre-trib rapture theory. Here is an example.

Listener -  I was wondering what scriptures you would site that deny a pre-tribulation rapture or any rapture for that matter.  Also, when God returns with the Saints in Armageddon who are the saints if they aren't people risen during a rapture?

Tsiyon Answer - The historic position of the earliest believers is that the dead in Messiah are raised at His Return at the end of the Tribulation. This is based on multiple verses in Scripture, not the least of which are Messiah's own words:

"And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man shall appear in the heavens. And then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of the heaven with power and great glory. And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other." Matt 24:29-31

Y'shua here states plainly that His Return occurs "immediately after the tribulation." After means "after" - not "before the tribulation" as the pre-tribulation rapture theory would have us believe. Messiah here states there will be a "great sound of a trumpet" at that time, and "the elect" will then be gathered to Him.

This agrees with other verses. For example, Paul wrote:

"Behold, I speak a mystery to you; we shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed; in a moment, in a glance of an eye, at the last trumpet. For a trumpet shall sound, and the dead [in Messiah] shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality." 1Cor 15:51-53

Paul's words agree perfectly with those of Messiah above. The glorification of all of those in Messiah - whether raised from the dead at that time, or still alive and "changed" at that time - occurs at the last trumpet. It is self-evident that if the "last trumpet" were to sound before the tribulation there could not then be another "last" trumpet "immediately after the tribulation." The trumpet Messiah spoke of "after the tribulation" must therefore be the same as the "last trumpet" Paul spoke of, which signals the glorification of the elect of all ages - including those still alive when it happens. The Bible doesn't use the word "rapture" but the idea of a catching up of the then-newly-glorified believers is clearly in view in these verses.

Paul speaks of this again to the Thessalonians:

Pass It On

If you know someone who would be interested in receiving this newsletter, please forward.

"But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Yeshua died and rose again, even so God will lead with him those who have fallen asleep in Yeshua. For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God’s shofar [trumpet]. The dead in Messiah will rise first, then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore comfort one another with these words." 1Thess 4:13-18

Again we have a trumpet - "God's Shofar [Trumpet]" at the glorification of the living and the dead in Messiah, at the time of His Return. This has to be the "last trumpet" signaling the end of the age. At that time all of the then-glorified elect will be "caught up together" in the clouds "to meet the Lord in the air." From then forward "we will be with the Lord forever."

In this translation I have corrected the word usually translated as "bring" - usually seen in the phrase "bring with him." According to Strong's Greek Dictionary this word, G71 "ago" literally means "A primary verb; properly to lead." In other words, once raised and "caught up" to "meet the Lord in the air" Messiah will "lead" these elect. Where does He "lead" them? To begin with, He will lead them into battle! Revelation speaks of the nations of the "Beast" who are gathered at Megiddo to destroy Jerusalem. "These will war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings. They also will overcome who are with him, called and chosen and faithful.” Rev 17:14

After defeating the enemy forces with Messiah the glorified elect will return with Messiah to Jerusalem, where "we will reign on earth" with Him. Rev. 5:10

How exciting that all of this will come in this generation!

Final thoughts: Friends, we are living in the last generation, when all that has been foretold is rapidly coming into fulfillment. It is exciting to see Yah moving and working in His remnant people in these days. Our program this week gives evidence of the work He is doing in the lives and hearts of His individual remnant people. I think you will find a resonance in your own heart as you listen to this week's program.

Blessings to you and yours in Messiah's Name.

Shalom,

Eliyahu ben David
