The Word - Greek or Jewish?

Some people claim that the concept of The Word as found in John 1:1-3 originates with Plato and was inserted into the Gospel text! In this program we will totally unmask this lie and will prove conclusively that this passage is both Scriptural and thoroughly Jewish. If you've ever questioned this passage then you must hear this!   "Moses or Plato?

Listener Feedback - The True Temple

Listener Comments: I'm just so confused...it is so difficult and so much weighs in choosing correctly...it scares me because I don't know what is right.  I fear losing my soul to the enemy because I follow the wrong path, without evil intent.  That teacher uses the scripture that Jesus said he came only for the lost 10 tribes and that the sick only need a physician to support that Jesus came only for the rebelling 10 tribes.  I see what you quote from the scriptures too.....   What do you advise people to do to worship...if not the temple...where?  We no longer can attend a "Christian" church without feeling we are only compromising our beliefs against christmas, easter and halloween.  Thanks for any guidance...especially your prayers. [See last week's Tsiyon News for Context]

Tsiyon Answer:   I understand how you feel. There is so much conflicting teaching and the teaching you choose effects your eternal destiny - surely not a small thing.   The answer lies in knowing and following the Living Torah, Y'shua Messiah. He told us where the Temple is now. Listen to this:

[The Samaritan woman said] "Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship."

"Y'shua said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when neither in this mountain [Gerizim], nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father."

"You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews."

"But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."" John 4:20-24

Y'shua was speaking here to a Samaritan woman. As you no doubt know, the Samaritans were considered heretics by the Jews, even having their own place of worship apart from Jerusalem and the Temple. The Jews, of course, worshipped at the Temple in Jerusalem. Her question was not much different from your own: 'where should I worship?' Her problem was that she was not in covenant relationship with God while the Jews were, so, as a Samaritan, she was worshipping that "which she didn't know." Not really knowing God is why she was so conflicted.

According to Torah and the Prophets the Savior was to be a Jew. Thus, as Y'shua pointed out "salvation is from the Jews."  This statement, taken by itself, might lead some to think that Y'shua was just about to tell her she must become a Jew. If Y'shua was a good Pharisee as false teachers often say, and all was fine with the Jews, then the next thing Y'shua would have said is; "you need to become a Jew and worship at the Temple in Jerusalem."

Y'shua did not say that! He did not point to the Jewish Temple as the place of true worship. That is profoundly important. In fact, He directly ruled out the Temple!  "Neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father!"  The implication here is that the worship at the Temple in Jerusalem was, at that time, just as alienated from God as was the worship of the Samaritans!

So, what was the answer to the woman's question? Where did Y'shua say the true worshippers are to worship?

"The hour .. now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth."

You are the temple of God and He wants to meet you in spirit and truth within your own spirit - inside of you!

Y'shua came to give you that unspeakable treasure. Don't let some fool who doesn't know Y'shua take that away with vain religion!

These false teachers take pride in their knowledge of Torah - while missing what Torah is all about. Their blind condition is even as Messiah said:

"You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about Me. Yet you will not come to Me, that you may have life." John 5:39-40

The vain teachers who have rejected the fullness of Messiah's message and who do not know Him have missed the path to life itself.

Messiah said; "This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Y'shua the Messiah." John 17:3

The knowing Y'shua speaks of here, which He equates with "eternal life" is the personal knowing of Father God and His Son. This is knowing in the sense that you know a dear friend. Mark these words, many a "Torah Teacher" will miss out on eternal life for lack of knowing the Son of God.

Abraham knew Him. Jacob knew Him. Moses knew Him. David knew Him. His talmidim (disciples) know Him. As one of His talmidim, I know Him. Don't listen to any teacher who doesn't know Him, because with all they know, they know nothing of eternal value.

There is more, much more, that I could say. But this is enough to think and pray on right now. May the Spirit of YHWH come and visit you in your inner temple and commune with you in spirit and truth, that you may know both the Father and the Son, and thereby possess salvation, eternal life, in that blessed Divine relationship. In Y'shua Messiah I pray for you. Amen.

Thoughts from Eliyahu ben David:

Our listener feedback, such as that shared above, shows growing confusion in the Messianic and Hebrew Roots community over many and various conflicting teachings within our larger community. While some honest differences are normal, the extremes of various teachers over vital fundamentals of the faith are literally shaking the faith of some of Y'shua's little ones who have voiced their distress to us. In some cases those earnest seekers feel that their very soul is in peril over these teaching conflicts, not knowing whom or what to believe. Our response is to thoroughly expose the truth regarding contrary teachings without regard for where or whom they have come from or how many people may mistakenly uphold them. We owe nothing less than that to our Messiah and to His sheep. Right now, in coming to grips with issues having to do with the nature of Elohim (God) we are seeking to address a major area of controversy wherein much false teaching abounds. We hope to bring a new clarity to this vital area that we are addressing in our programs right now. Dawn and I invite you to listen to all of these programs with us to consider facts on this issue you may not have considered before. Please join us for all of this important discussion.

Blessings and shalom in the name of Y'shua Messiah,

Eliyahu ben David
