Reflecting the accepted dating, Wikipedia reports on the Assyrian captivity of Israel:

In 722 BC, nearly twenty years after the initial deportations, the ruling city of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, Samaria, was finally taken by Sargon II after a three year siege started by Shalmaneser V. [wikipedia.org, Assyrian_captivity_of_Israel]

The Scriptures report the events culminating in exile of the Northern Kingdom of Israel in 722 BC:

Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him, and Hoshea became his servant and paid him tribute. But the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea, who had sent messengers to So king of Egypt and had offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year; so the king of Assyria shut him up and bound him in prison. Then the king of Assyria invaded the whole land and went up to Samaria and besieged it three years. In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and carried Israel away into exile to Assyria, and settled them in Halah and Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. 2 Kings 17:3 HNV

Then the king of Assyria carried Israel away into exile to Assyria, and put them in Halah and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, because they did not obey the voice of YHWH their God, but transgressed His covenant, even all that Moses the servant of YHWH commanded; they would neither listen nor do it. 2 Kings 18:11-12 HNV

The dating of this history becomes very important, in light of the prophecy of Ezekiel regarding the time appointed by YHWH for the captivity of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, the "lost ten tribes." The prophetic office sometimes requires the prophet to act in strange ways to convey the Divine message. This is definitely the case for Ezekiel in Ezekiel 4. In this chapter YHWH tells him that he will prophetically act out the siege of Jerusalem. He is also told to act out the captivity of both "the House of Israel" and the "House of Judah" - each separately. He is to prophetically "bear the iniquity" of each, in affliction, deprivation and uncleanness, for "Thus will the sons of Israel eat their bread unclean among the nations where I will banish them." In this amazing prophecy Ezekiel is to prophetically "lay the iniquity of the house of Israel on it" for a specific number of days - 390 days, to be exact.

As for you, lie down on your left side and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel on it; you shall bear their iniquity for the number of days that you lie on it. For I have assigned you a number of days corresponding to the years of their iniquity, three hundred and ninety days; thus you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel." Ezek 4:4-5 HNV

Verse 6 goes on to give "a day for each year" as the prophetic multiplier. Thus, "the House of Israel" was given 390 years to be exiled, to repent and then be returned to the Land. But wait, Israel did not repent! What then?

And if by these things you are not turned to Me (do not repent), but act with hostility against Me, then I will act with hostility against you; and I, even I, will strike you seven times for your sins." Lev 26:23-24 HNV

Because Israel did not repent, the Torah increases the punishment by a factor of seven!

390 years x 7 = 2,730 years of captivity exiled among the nations!

So, when is the exile of Israel up?

This is where we refer back to the date of the exile. That was 722 BC, remember?

2,730 years - 722 (BC) = 2008/2009 AD (Hebrew years span parts of 2 Gregorian years).

The Exile of the House of Israel was up in 2008/2009 AD.
