Countdown
in the Middle East
Israel and the Middle
East are currently in the news, especially since the State of Israel
has been bombing targets in the area of Damascus. This has Christian
prophecy buffs buzzing. The prominent theory among them is that the
next major prophetic event regarding Israel will be the Gog of Magog
War of Ezekiel 38+39. Many of them also know that the Bible
foretells the destruction of Damascus, which they speculate may
somehow be involved in that coming Gog of Magog War. Of course, they
are not expecting to be around for any of that unpleasantness, since
they will be "snatched out" before any of that really nasty stuff
happens - or so they think. In their mindset, the current events in
Syria have the pre-trib rapture folks anticipating a beam-up at any
moment!
My advice to them would be - not so fast - take a closer look at
Ezekiel 38+39. The Israel described there is a sitting duck,
prosperous, secure and expecting no hostility from anyone, with all
shields down. "Easy pickins" as my neighbor Texans might say. That
is definitely NOT the State of Israel as it exists today. While a
major confrontation does seem to be shaping up in the Middle East,
the situation DOES NOT fit the profile of the Gog of Magog War. Pre-trib
rapture folks, beware: too little knowledge can lead to great
disappointment.
So, if the gathering storm clouds over Syria are not signaling the
Gog of Magog War, what then?
Since 2006 Tsiyon has repeatedly warned of an upcoming war in the
Middle East of Biblical proportions. This is NOT the Gog/Magog War
which will usher in the last seven years of this age. This is NOT
the Armageddon War, which will occur at the end of that final seven
years. This is what we have called the Psalm 83 War, also the Pale
Horse Rider War. This war will be a geo-political game-changer for
Israel. It will involve treachery intended to destroy Israel.
However, that treachery will boomerang back upon the heads of
Israel's enemies and pseudo-friends with devastating effects for
them. In fact, every indication from Scripture is that the death
toll on Israel's enemies from this war will be staggering, so
staggering it will rock the world. While Israel will also likely
experience casualties, these will be far milder by comparison. This
outcome will pave the way for Israel to achieve super-power status
with more land, more wealth and more power than ever before in the
modern age. To hold that additional land, wealth and power Israel
will need one thing it doesn't have right now - a lot more people.
That could be the very factor now lacking that will cause the State
of Israel to open her doors to her returning lost tribes, to us, the
remnant of Israel.
Are we now headed towards that very war? Yes we are, whether this
current situation escalates directly into that war, or merely sets
the stage for that war to come later. Why do I say that?
Do these words ring a bell?
“Come,” they say, “and let’s destroy them as a nation, that the name
of Israel may be remembered no more.” Psalm 83:4
We have heard words like these repeated lately, in the news,
especially from the Iranians (Persians). "Assyria" was included in
the ancient Persian Empire, just as Syria is a vassal state of Iran
today. "Assyria also is joined with them" the prophecy states, as it
describes Israel's neighbors involved in the conspiracy. (Psa 83:8)
Other prophets describe events regarding Damascus, capitol of Syria,
that could easily proceed from Middle East events now unfolding in
the news daily:
The burden of Damascus: “Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a
city, and it will be a ruinous heap ..Ah, the uproar of many
peoples, who roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of
nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters! The nations
will rush like the rushing of many waters: but he will rebuke them,
and they will flee far off, and will be chased like the chaff of the
mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the
storm. At evening, behold, terror! Before the morning, they are no
more. This is the portion of those who plunder us, and the lot of
those who rob us." Isa 17:1, 12-14
"Of Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad; for they have heard
evil news, they are melted away: there is sorrow on the sea; it
can’t be quiet. Damascus has grown feeble, she turns herself to
flee, and trembling has seized on her: anguish and sorrows have
taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail. How is the city of
praise not forsaken, the city of my joy?
Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men
of war shall be brought to silence in that day, says YHWH of Hosts."
Jer 49:23-26
Some say these prophecies were fulfilled centuries ago, which may be
true in some lesser sense. Clearly though, Damascus was not "taken
away from being a city" since it still exists as a city today. That
remains to happen, and must happen for prophecy to be fulfilled.
Damascus will be reduced to "a ruinous heap" in one night: "At
evening, behold, terror! Before the morning, they are no more."
After that terrible night Damascus will never rise again! What could
cause that level of swift and complete destruction? Well, what is at
the center of the controversy with Iran? Nuclear weapons!
As horrible as this will be for Damascus, we should not think this
will only involve Israel's Muslim enemies. This will involve a much
larger war theater, as the prophet says; "Ah, the uproar of many
peoples, who roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of
nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters! The nations
will rush like the rushing of many waters: but he will rebuke them,
and they will flee far off, and will be chased like the chaff of the
mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the
storm."
One can easily see nations such as those of the USA and NATO on one
side of this conflict and nations supporting the Iran/Syria Axis,
such as Russia and possibly even China, on the other side. Indeed,
all of these nations can be seen in the news vieing for position,
with arms, technical support, and even troops, being injected into
both sides of the present conflict. Syria is counting on Iran, and
siffisticated weaponry from Russia to bolster its position. Russia
has, in fact, gotten bolder in its support, giving the USA cause to
walk softly in its bid to overturn the Syrian government. Russia has
made its formidable naval presence felt in the area, providing a
naval buffer between Syria and hostile naval forces.

missile into
the equation..

As reassuring as this support may now be to Syria and Iran, the
prophecy speaks of "the roaring of the seas" and the Gentiles
fleeing "like the rushing of mighty waters" as they are "chased"
away! This certainly sounds like the speedy departure of naval
forces "like the whirling dust before the storm!" It seems, that at
the strategic moment all foreign support will be quickly chased away,
leaving fierce judgment to consume the enemies of Israel.
The Psalm 83 War WILL come on Yah's timetable. As I have indicated a
number of times before, the "signs in the sky" that Messiah told us
to be watching for seem to indicate a major war for Israel for
2014/2015. Could this be the Psalm 83 War, including even the
destruction of Damascus? We will know for sure when it happens, but
one must be impressed with how neatly all the pieces seem to be
quickly adding up.

Transitions in life are always difficult, if not down right painful.
Unfortunately, for those who don't like transitions, the entire
world is in transition right now. That's because the forces of
darkness are putting pressure on all persons everywhere to conform
economically, ideologically, technologically, culturally,
religiously and even biologically, to the agenda of the one world
government. As stressful as it may be to resist this pressure, one
must resist it, or risk slipping with the rest of the world into the
anti-christ agenda.
Meanwhile another transition is underway. It is the transition of
the scattered remnant of Israel from the mindset of the world to the
mindset of Yah's own nation. This transition will eventually take
that remnant from wherever they may be now, to going home together
in the Second Exodus. This transition too, is very stressful and can
only be accomplished by the overcomers. Even then, the chains that
hold us back are formidable, raising the question: how can we break
free? Our father Jacob broke free from bondage and we can do it too,

Like Jacob in servitude to Laban, the Faithful Remnant of Israel live in servitude to the world system. Indeed, like Laban, the world does not play fair. The world and those around you who love the world do not want you to break free, so have devised many changing schemes and invisible chains to hold you back. Yet, like Jacob, the scattered Remnant of Israel have a promise from YHWH that He will bring us, the faithful family of Jacob, again into our own Land. In this Midrash we consider how our father, Jacob, broke free, to learn how we can do it too!
