Shalom friends, 

When you look up at the Sun, it does look like a huge ball of fire, but scientists say it is a lot more than that. According to Universe Today; "Ancient astronomers thought that the Sun was a ball of fire, but now astronomers know that it’s nuclear fusion going on in the core of stars that allows them to output so much energy." Like just about everything YHWH created, the Sun is a lot more complicated than it looks. Fusion, the process within the Sun that gives off the massive amounts of energy we need on the Earth to survive, is a highly sophisticated scientific process that requires a host of difficult and precise conditions to be perfectly met.

How do you light a star, so that it keeps outputting energy? God knows, but we think the process looks like this picture. Man has even managed to duplicate this process in a limited way, to produce energy, but we can't say we've really mastered it, since we produce nuclear waste we can't safely deal with, and we have disasters like Chernobyl and Fukushima. Of course, these efforts are petty when compared to lighting a star, which is something far beyond the capability of man to accomplish. Yet, had YHWH not created the Sun through His perfect mastery of fusion, (which Sun He makes shine upon both the righteous and the wicked) we would all be pretty cold right now. Once again, He provides for us what we cannot provide for ourselves, and He makes it look so easy we hardly think about it.   

Let us now move from considering the Sun to considering the Son. He too often gets taken for granted because He has made the impossible look easy. Like ancient astronomers who thought the Sun is nothing but a big ball of fire, many people today read the Gospel accounts of Yeshua's life, or just hear something about Him, and then make ignorant assumptions that don't begin to come to grips with the far more complex truth of who He is and what He actually did for us. Often, their ignorance of their own wretched spiritual condition is so numbing and blinding that they can't even begin to realize the depth of the need in their own lives that only He can fill. At least, when they look up at the Sun they can feel its warmth and see its light. Why then, can they not see or feel the Light of the World?

Some of us are further along than that. We have plotted out all of the theological doctrines having to do with redemption, salvation, sanctification and glorification, or so we think. But I wonder, do we really get it? Are all of our theological doctrines something like the picture of "fusion" above? That picture is pretty pathetic when we put it beside the reality of the blazing Sun. Are not theological doctrines like that too? Pathetic, when held up and examined in the light of the reality of the Son of God?

When you consider what He did, fusion in the Sun is a simple matter by comparison. He put it this way; "For the Son of Man didn’t come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them." Sounds simple, until you get to the nuts and bolts. How do you go about changing the ruined spiritual trajectory of the human race, and even the Universe? And that in only three and a half years?

All of Creation was waiting for Him to be born and turn 30 years old. Like a cannonball shot from a cannon, He began His ministry, and continued every day at a breakneck pace, until three and a half years later He could say with His last breath before His death; "it is finished." During that time He impacted multitudes, but He chose only 12 men to be witnesses of all He did and said. They were lunkheads like us, but apparently their hearts were headed in a better direction than most. They were willing to leave everything behind to follow Him, and they did. They were also willing to be pretty much constantly corrected. They must have felt like they were wrong about everything, because He was always telling them what they were doing and saying was wrong, and then He showed them what was right. Very often He criticized their lack of faith and lack of other spiritual virtues. From a certain perspective, He was so insistent on the truth He was downright rude with them. He didn't have time not to be rude. Often, even after He told them the truth they still didn't get it - just like us. Yet, they stayed with Him. They followed where He led. It was not about doctrines. It was not about religion. It certainly was not about all the money they could make. It was a heart thing. It was about Him. He had captured their heart and they just couldn't stop. Something less than three and a half years with Him and they were changed forever. Fusion had occurred in their spirit - fusion with the Son of God.

Fusion still happens. That's why He came. So we could experience fusion with Him. That's how He saves us.  I can't draw you a chart of how that works. I wouldn't want to. When you open your heart and just walk with Him, through the Gospels and through your life, at some point in that journey, the eternal fire will spring up within you as His Spirit merges with yours and His Life becomes your life. That's the moment when fusion happens. When that happens, you become a new creature with an eternal future, with Him. Its that kind of fusion, with one person at a time, by which He has changed the spiritual trajectory of the Universe. No one can do that but Him.
