Tsiyon Bound Remnant Encouragement Tour, 2009: Danny Lee and SueJean of Tsiyon Bound fame are on tour this summer through much of the USA via RV. In fact, they just started this week! This is not merely a pleasure trip, however. They are sent out on a mission - to encourage the Remnant! While they may not be able to see everyone who requests a visit this time around, they will do their best to try. Can you arrange a concert or get-together at your home or area? Danny and SueJean would love to do some songs for you from their Tsiyon Bound album - or just visit, if that works better for you. The whole point is to encourage the remnant - you - in the midst of these uncertain days. Look to future issues of the newsletter to read more about their trip as the summer progresses. Summer Meeting Schedule: Everyone is out and about in the summer, so we are adjusting our Tsiyon Meetings to suit that need. Starting immediately we will be folding all meetings into one or two Tsiyon Partner Meetings per month. The next one will be this Monday evening. We will be sending a notice to all partners.

Listener Comment: Hi Eliyahu, Before coming to the Messianic way I have understood [Ephesians 2:1-2] to mean something in particular to the final generation, "prince of the power of the air." In the media you hear "On the Air" when something is being broadcast live, be it radio or TV. Now we have Satellite, Cable the Internet and at some point, Satan will assume control over all of these media formats. And Antichrist / Antimessiah will use these against Israel and the world to spread his deception and delusion. I still believe this. Does "prince of the power of the air" mean something other than how I'm interpreting it?

Tsiyon Answer: Great question. By extension your explanation of Eph 2:2 is probably correct, since satan largely rules the airwaves. However, Paul had a more fundamental level of meaning in mind in writing the verse. Let’s take a look at those verses in context now.

"And He has made you alive, who were once dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience; 3 among whom we also had our way of life in times past, in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others." Eph 2:1-3

In these verses Paul does not elaborate much on the meaning of his statement, the prince of the power of the air, merely following it up with the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience. Then he continues on with his narration of the big picture of Yah’s plan for His own. Later in this same book though, Paul devotes a significant part of his closing words to this exact same theme introduced in 2:2. I’m talking about the famous “armor of God” verses in Ephesians 6.

Compare Eph 6:12-13 to the verse under discussion:

12 "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

Now, let’s compare some of the words used in both verses to see what they mean.

2:2 6:12

Prince Principality

These are related words in both Greek and English. Prince is translated from archon and means first in rank, the chief ruler. In 6:12 principality is from arche, and refers here to chiefs at various levels of rank. In comparing these words we see that 2:2 refers to the chief ruler who is above all ranks under him while 6:2 is referring primarily to those rulers below the chief ruler, but still chiefs of ranks under them. All of this is commensurate with the fact that the demonic forces are highly ordered in a hierarchical fashion according to rank, like an army, as expressed in this language.

Power            Powers

This is the same word in both verses. It is the Greek word exousia. This word can be used in a number of different senses including the sense of delegated influence, jurisdiction, and authority. The power of a ruler expressed through command of an army is the sense in which the word is used here. In 2:2 the emphasis is on the ruler who wields the power, in 6:12 it is on the ranks through whom the power is wielded.

Air          spiritual wickedness

2:2 uses the word air (G. aer). The Greek word has the sense of “encompassing on all sides; surrounding.” As a fish is surrounded by and moves through an ocean of water men are surrounded by and move through an ocean of air. In 6:12 the wickedness is called spiritual (G. pneumatikos). Pneuma is the root word here, primarily meaning a breath or breeze of air itself. This also means spirit. Wickedness is depravity and malice itself, expressed through plots and schemes of sin. This atmosphere of wickedness all around us and in every breath we take, peopled by the ranks of satan, plotting and scheming to drag us down and destroy us, is what Paul is warning us about in both verses.

Paul is speaking of the same truth we discussed in our Matrix series of programs. So long as we go on breathing in the atmosphere of spiritual wickedness which permeates the world around us then we are dead, so far as YHWH is concerned. That’s because we are influenced to be just like the wickedness all around us and even breathed in by us, and don’t even know it as wickedness – it is just normal life to us, though it is really sin and death. It takes a miracle from YHWH through Messiah to release us from the hold of spiritual wickedness that characterizes this world. Until that happens we are dead even though we think we are alive.

Once delivered from the darkness we must walk in the light as set-apart children of the living God. If we do not live set-apart lives, actively wearing the armor of God and taking up the battle with His sword and shield, then we will soon be overcome by the plots and evil schemes of the spiritual powers who actively deploy plans against us to re-capture our souls to destroy us.

Our eyes need to be opened to the pervasiveness of our enemy and his schemes. In fact, he has assigned forces of spiritual wickedness to devise and deploy specific schemes to undo every true child of God. Those forces aren’t just out there – they are out there planning and working to destroy you by name! This is the war we must fight every single day. If anyone is not fighting the battle then it can only mean they have lost already to the prince of the power of the air.

Yesterday, USA President Obama made a landmark speech in Cairo, Egypt, in an effort to "forge a new beginning" with the Islamic world. He included four quotations from the Koran and used Arabic greetings. His speech was polished and his delivery, mesmerizing. His speech received high marks around the world. Perhaps, if I did not know Scripture and the God of Israel, I would judge the speech as an attempt to be honest, even-handed and a vision for a better world. Since I do know Scripture and the God of Israel I see the speech for what it truly is: the start of a new and powerful global propaganda offensive designed to clear the path toward a one-world government - at Israel's expense. The NWO vision of President Obama in which the "Palestinians" are represented as having a valid claim to Holy Land which YHWH has entrusted to Israel puts the NWO, President Obama and the USA on a collision course with The Almighty. My new book, Announcing Judgment Day, comments on this developing conflict at its root cause, jealousy of Israel's special status in the plan of YHWH. The claim is that all people and all nations are "equal" and on that basis President Obama disregards the Holy Covenant YHWH made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the Mosaic Covenant as well, as if he knows better than God what is "fair." As my book states; "In choosing one nation out of all nations to have a unique status, YHWH has acted within His rights as Creator of all. It is for the creature to conform to the will of the Creator, not for the Creator to adjust Himself to modern notions of the equality of nations. Indeed, He laughs at the nations in their ridiculous arrogance."

Where must all this lead? The Scriptures are clear enough. President Obama is bringing a curse upon himself and his nation. The more President Obama attempts to force his will the worse that curse will become. After a period of patience the outcome to the opposers of the Divine Will must be war, death and destruction. The die is cast. All I can say is, pray for the righteous and be busy at the work of our Lord.
