Listener Comment: I listen to your show on 1380 in Kansas City, and I love it. My question to you is why did the Jews in the OT not make mention of going to heaven after they died? Thank you for your time and praise YAHWEH for the gift he has given to the body.

To answer your question: OT believers had no conception of going to
heaven. Their hope was to be raised on the "last day" in the
resurrection, to live once again on the earth.
For example, Job says:
As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last [day] He will take His stand on the earth. Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I shall see God; Whom I myself shall behold, And whom my eyes will see and not another. Job 19:25-27 NASB
This same resurrection hope was still embraced in Messiah's time. For example, Martha said:
I know that he [Lazarus] will rise again in the resurrection on the last day. John 11:24 NASB
Messiah spoke of this same resurrection hope, offered through Him:
For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day. John 6:40 NASB

From all of this we see that the Scriptural hope is not that believers will spend eternity with God in Heaven, as is so commonly believed, but rather, that God Himself will dwell with the redeemed eternally upon the earth!
And I heard a loud voice from the Throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." And He who sits on the Throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." Rev 21:3-5 NASB
