Thanks for your comments and information. I have read the sources you mention, and others, and am well aware that the 6-pointed star is used in magic, and has been for a long time. You are right to be skeptical about this until such time as you find reason not to be. I will tell you what I see with no intention of imposing my view on you. My conviction is that Encyclopedia Judaica is simply wrong about Solomon's Seal, repeating an ancient slander perpetrated by hasatan. This myth about Solomon has been perpetrated by the freemasons and mystery religions from which they descend, to attempt to offer some biblical basis to their occult practices. True descendants of David and Solomon have always known this to be a lie, which is why the Star of David was included in the Messianic Seal in the Assembly of Yaakov Ha Tsadeek and the first congregation of believers in Mt. The Seal is a representation of the sun. For the family of David, to whom it was first given, the sun reference is a reminder of the Davidic Covenant with YHWH, which YHWH said would endure as long as the sun and moon endure. This is an expression of faith in YHWH and is not involved with pagan worship or magic. There is spiritual power in it though, the power of a real relationship and real covenant with YHWH. Magic is about power, so it is no surprise that pagan magic practitioners twisted the true power and meaning of the Seal to their own ends. To the pagans who have usurped the Seal, the sun is a reference to the various permutations of the sun god, known by such names as nimrod, marduk, apollo, and the paganized "christ." Though the true meaning of the Seal has suffered this distortion and is thus not understood, even by most Jews, nevertheless, the true meaning of the Seal (the Davidic Covenant) will eventually totally triumph over all the powers and deceptions that have attempted to sully and hide the Plan of YHWH that is resident within it.

YHWH made the sun and moon. He made fish. He made everything. Everything He made belongs to Him, and by extension, belongs to us, His children and heirs. In Scripture all that YHWH made has symbolical meaning. YHWH hardly ever speaks apart from symbols drawn from His creation. He uses these symbols to teach us and remind us of things pertaining to Him. There is nothing evil or pagan about the right use of symbols from creation that originate with our Creator. I am a son of YHWH and am therefore entitled to be blessed by the rich use of symbols from YHWH that are part of my heritage. The Shield of David falls into that category for me. That magic-practicing pagans have stolen and then distorted so many of the words and symbols that belong to us, YHWH's children, will not deter me from retaining and using those symbols rightly, as given by my Father. Indeed, if we, His children, do not claim what is ours then we forfeit it to the enemy by default. Others may do as they will. As for me, I'm simply not going to give up these treasures to hasatan and his pagan hordes. If I am misunderstood as a result, so be it.
