Listener Comment - How to Cope With Fear of End Times?
Hi Eliyahu, I'm a fan of your show and a fellow believer. I'm hoping you might offer some advice on how to deal with some of the anxieties I've been feeling regarding the signs which are currently manifesting on the earth. To be honest with you, I'm petrified over what I see. The idea that in all of history I am alive in the time of the end, the time that may see the return of the Messiah and all of the horrors that lead up to that scares the daylights out of me and has begun to cause me some stress. I can't even watch the news anymore. As I said, I am a believer and I know Yeshua instructed us not to worry, but it is nigh impossible for me not to feel it. It's kind of like the feeling a person might have if their car breaks down in a really bad neighborhood. I know prayer is something you might recommend and I do pray for a little stress relief. What else would you suggest that might help me cope with the unfolding of the end times?

Tsiyon Answer - How to Cope With Fear of End Times

I understand the anxiety you are feeling over the signs of the end of this age that we see unfolding every day. We hear from others from time to time that share the same fears and stress from these realities - especially as these events are accelerating. So what can you do to deal with your fears? I can offer a few things you might want to think about.

First of all, it is not the will of YHWH to make you feel petrified. On the contrary, His purpose in the signs for believers is actually to encourage us!

Messiah said;

"But when these things begin to happen, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near.” Luke 21:28

Imagine that! Soon you will see your Lord! Here's another verse I like:

"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." 2Tim 1:7

So, what is a spirit of fear? There is such a thing as a demonic spirit of fear that can oppress people - even believers at times. The purpose of such spirit is to use fear as a control, and indeed, fear is a powerful control over those who are caught in its grip. We must not let the enemy control us by fear or anything else. On the contrary, we must be self-controlled by conforming our way to the leading of the Ruach/Spirit of YHWH. The spirit of fear needs to be opposed and banished in the Name of Y'shua Messiah. Those who follow Messiah have the power to do that. (Luke 10:19)

Often, people are afraid because they feel powerless. Yet, God gave us a "Spirit of power, love and self-control." Are you walking in the power of the Spirit? If not, you need to change how you are walking! Submit yourself fully to Him and allow His Spirit to guide your steps. His Spirit provides the power needed to meet every situation. There is nothing you can't handle with Him at the helm! As you walk with Him you will become ever-more confident in His power to lead you and guide you through every situation. You need not face this changing world as one with no power. You have all the power of heaven at your disposal - if you will only believe and walk in it!

Lastly, what about love? Yochanan/John wrote this:

We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. In this love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love. 1John 4:16-18

Do you notice how this works?

1. "We know and have believed the love which God has for us."

Brother, do you know that love He has for you? Do you really believe it? If you have that revelation of His love for you then you will "have boldness in the day of judgment."

2. "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear." Let more of His love in the front door of your heart and you will quickly see fear fleeing out the back door! Fear literally cannot exist where perfect love is operative.

3. Finally, we have this divine diagnosis: "He who fears is not made perfect in love."

This is the answer to your question. You need to be made perfect in love - then you will have no room for fear in your life - nor any need for fear.

Brother, pray to know the depth of His love for you, personally. The answer to that prayer will solve your fear problem. Here is my prayer for you:

Father, I lift up this brother to you and all fearful saints with Him, that they may know the depth of your love for each of them - and that they may know the greatness of Your power through Y'shua Messiah toward those who believe. In the Name of our fearless and loving Savior, Y'shua Messiah. Amen.
