TSIYON MINISTRY PARTNER MEETING:
The next regularly scheduled Tsiyon Ministry Partner meeting was originally scheduled for Monday, May 30, 2011. Since here in the US, that is Memorial Day weekend, when many people are off of work and traveling, we will be postponing the meeting until the next evening, 5/31/11.

While technology is wonderful, sometimes it doesn't quite work the way we hope. Sometimes that is the case with the TalkShoe software program we are currently using for our Tsiyon Ministry Partner meetings. Recently, one of the partners asked TalkShoe for help on this and the help staff said: "Users who cannot hear the streaming audio, please close your browser then delete the TalkShoe cookie & clear the cache, then come back into the call."

NEW MEXICO MEETING:
Do you live in New Mexico and desire to meet with other believers? Now you can! In the upcoming weeks, there will be a meeting of all interested folks from New Mexico held in the Albuquerque area. If you are interested in meetings in or around Albuquerque, please email us.

Listener Q + A

Listener Comment - Which Nation or Tribe?
I have a couple of questions regarding the concept of individuals belonging to a nation, defined as those descended from a common ancestor, as applied to today’s world.
   (1) There has been so much intermarriage between descendants of the various tribes of Israel as well as between descendants of these tribes and the descendants of the original 70 nations, that even if one could somehow uncover one’s exact entire family tree, in view of this potentially extremely mixed ancestry, by what rules could one possibly decide by bloodlines the nation to which one owes allegiance?
   (2) With such widespread mixing of ancestries, would God necessarily lead each person to identify with a single tribe or nation, or might he lead one to identify with a group of tribes and nations?

Tsiyon Answer - Which Nation or Tribe
You ask some very good questions about ancestry. As you point out, this can get quite complex, after these many years. Much of the world's population is still located in the area of their respective ancestral home. However, a lot of the human race has been scattered around, intermarried, genetically mixed, and scattered around some more. This is especially true in the USA and other Western nations. While YHWH knows the family tree of each person, many of us can't say the same about ourselves.

This gets even more confused when we look at the scattered remnant of Israel. Of course, all such remnant are likely to be of mixed ancestry, being of Israel, and of other nations as well.

Here is where the Biblical Israel, the believing Remnant of Israel, becomes a haven in these last days. For those who have some Israelite ancestry, of any one, or of several tribes of Israel, it is for YHWH to reveal the specifics of this to them. Those who are of the scattered Remnant already know it in their spirit, even if they don't yet know it in their conscious mind. Israelite identity is a genetic imprint in your being and spirit that makes you a "natural olive branch" of Israel's olive tree. Such a person just naturally fits as part of the Israelite tree - because that is where they belong by nature! (Romans 11:24)

The Remnant of Israel do not need someone to tell them they are of Israel. They don't need a piece of paper saying they are. They don't need to recover documentation of their forgotten lineage. They don't need a genetic test. All they need to do is listen to the call of their inner being - and beyond that, to the voice of the Spirit, testifying to the truth within them of who they really are. Every Israelite is REQUIRED to keep the Covenant with YHWH. If that's you, you have an awareness in your Spirit, a sense of innate responsibility, to keep that Covenant. The Spirit will urge such a person toward keeping one's Covenant obligations. This is a powerful indication of Israelite ancestry. This Covenant responsibility has priority over all other connections. Therefore, if a person is 99% of the 70 nations, and 1% of Israel, their Covenant responsibility to Yah's nation must still come first, ahead of all other national ties. They must learn to make His nation their nation!

Tribal identity is more subtle. Often, a person becomes aware of their Israelite heritage in general, before they learn their specific tribal identity. In time YHWH will make their tribal identity clear to them as well, as they walk in His ways.

What about those who are not of natural Israel? Not to worry, since they can be "grafted in" to the olive tree of Israel through faith in Messiah, even if that is "contrary to nature." Once grafted in, they too are of Israel, right along with the natural Remnant of Israel. This solves the problem of "which nation do I belong to?". If you put your faith in Messiah then you are part of His nation, Israel! (Romans 11:24,25)

Listener Comment - How Do Callings Differ?
Thank you for your clear explanations! I am glad that one’s national identity does not depend upon percentages when it comes to those with some portion of their ancestry of Israel. Incidentally, when I first heard you encourage people to pray diligently about this I did so. I sensed then and still sense His answer to be that I am of the bloodline of Israel and of the tribe of Asher. I suspect people of Israelite ancestry will be drawn to pray in this way, whereas those who are not will not be so led. As an example, when I shared your note with my wife, she immediately responded, “I am one of those who are grafted in”. She too has put her faith in Messiah and is part of His nation, Israel. Both types of branches are precious in his sight. In light of your answers, I have a couple more questions:

   (1) How does Messiah’s calling for the natural branches differ from that of those who have been grafted in?
   (2) In what way will His calling and assignments differ for those of different tribes?

Tsiyon Answer - How Callings Differ
I'm so glad to hear of your prayer of faith, and the answer Yah gave you. It is a blessed thing to hear His voice in such a profoundly personal way. You remind me of the words of the Lord's brother, Yaakov/James;

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8

  • You needed God's wisdom to answer your question. You believed in faith and you asked Him. As the Scripture says of those who ask in faith, "it will be given him" - so you received your answer! Not all who ask receive an answer, because some doubt the answer given. In other words, God may answer them too, but their doubt prevents them from receiving the answer, since they don't believe. That's why it is so important to determine, once we have our answer, to receive it by faith and not doubt!

    Tribe of Asher

Because you have done this, now you know who you are - an Israelite of the Tribe of Asher. Embrace that reality and Yah will keep showing you more about what that means in your life. This goes to your second question, about how the calling of the tribes differ. The answer to that question is meant to come as a process of personal discovery as led by the Rhuah/Spirit of YHWH. A good place to start with that is to consider the blessing of Yaakov/Jacob for each of the tribes, recorded in Genesis 49. Here is what Jacob said of Asher:

Asher’s food will be rich. He will yield royal dainties. Genesis 49:20

In other words, Asher was blessed to be a rich source of supply to Israel in general and to the Royal House specifically.

Its allotment was the seacoast between Tyre and Carmel, a district fertile in the production of the finest corn and oil in all Palestine. (JFB Commentary)

Among the Remnant of Israel, Asher is meant to be a rich source of supply to Yah's emerging nation, and to the building up of the Kingdom specifically. As the saying goes, "an army travels on its stomach." Without the needed supply many of us will never make it to the 2nd Exodus. As the world's system goes into massive economic failure, this need will greatly intensify, making the blessing of Asher of vital importance to the Remnant. I have no doubt that Asher has a strategic and key role to play in the provisioning of the Remnant Nation in these last days. While all of us are called to give our tithes and offerings to the Kingdom, Asher goes far beyond that, being empowered with a spiritual gift AS A TRIBE, to see to the provisioning of the Kingdom nation! YHWH has/will open up His storehouse of supply to Asher to empower this tribal mandate. Of course, the role of individual brethren of Asher can and must vary greatly, within this over-arching role of Asher. As you pray on this I'm sure, over time, YHWH will show you what this means for you personally - exactly how you fit in to your tribal mandate. As for your wife, her view of herself will now become more clarified. Instead of simply seeing herself as grafted in to Israel generally, because she is joined to you, of Asher, she is grafted into Asher, one in purpose with you.

    Natural and Grafted-In Branches

How this works with you and your wife pretty much answers your two questions. The natural branches each have a role, by nature, in connection with their respective tribal mandate. YHWH is using the natural tribes respectively as the skeletal structure which dictates how the nation as a whole must function together. As Yah's purpose in raising up His remnant progresses, others will continue to have the same experience as you and your wife, learning who they really are. As this awareness grows those who share the same tribal mandate will naturally gravitate together so as to better perform their function. In this organic way tribes will be gathered together. Out of this process tribal heads and leaders will emerge. These will be organized together in a practical unified way under the national leadership of Messiah and the House of David. In this process a nation will take shape, by the love and mighty power of YHWH working in and through His people. Grafted-in folks fit into a given tribe by marriage, by calling or by both. There is nothing preventing them from distinguishing themselves within their adopted tribe as far as their anointing and works of faith will carry them.  All are being knit together as part of His multifunctional and multifaceted nation. In this amazing Nation, re-born from the dead, the Glory of Messiah will be revealed to the world as the Kingdom of Messiah is birthed in the Earth! Selah!

This is the vision of His Set-Apart Nation.   Take it!   Run with it!   God's speed!

Listener Comment - Rejoicing in the Call!

Thank you for these clear and comprehensive answers!  Upon first hearing your theme song, “O House of Israel”, I was moved to my depths with the sense that YHWH was speaking to His remnant of which I might be a part.  He has deigned to show me this is the case.  I am very grateful to be linked into the calling of YHWH to the remnant of Israel, and to know I am part of His set-apart Nation.
Your army analogy reminds me of a recurring desire I have had since my youth to somehow be part of the “Army of God” without knowing when and where such an army would emerge or exactly what it would be.  To be part of the supply line of this amazing Nation, reborn from the dead, in which the Glory of Messiah will be revealed to the world – this is a joyous and glorious calling indeed!
Thank you for your comments regarding James 1:5-8.  I would add that the key to finding wisdom in God is to see and acknowledge that spiritually speaking we know nothing until and unless He reveals it to us.  The first Beatitude of Messiah is “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”  “Poor in spirit” refers to more than a condition of humility as some commentaries would teach.  It means acknowledging in prayer that we are in total spiritual poverty until YHWH in his mercy gives wisdom from heaven to meet our need.
On this theme I appreciate the New Living Translation of Matthew 11:28-30: “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”  To be teachable requires that we see and acknowledge our unlimited need for what Messiah has to teach.
Thank you for being a teacher and father after Yah’s own heart! (1 Cor. 4:15)

    From Eliyahu

Our last program struck a cord with many of you, as shown from the heart-felt comments at the website, and other responses exemplified in the email exchange above. This latest program, Going Out #282, is an excellent follow-up to that, considering the example of Father Abraham in going out. He paved the way of faith for us and his example is profoundly important to each of us as we are called to go out of this world, into His Nation, and into the Kingdom.

    Blessings and Shalom,

    Eliyahu ben David
