Fullness of Gentiles

When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him. He held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head. Joseph said to his father, “Not so, my father; for this is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.”      His father refused, and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also will become a tribe, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his seed will become the fullness of the Gentiles.” Gen 48:17-19

Listener Question: Is support from Israel's global "friends" eroding?
Is it just me or does it appear that Europe, and even the USA seem to be backing off from support of Israel?

Tsiyon Answer: According to a BBC global opinion poll released in May of 2013, there are currently only three nations viewed by the global community in a more negative light than Israel, and that by a thin margin. Those three most odorous nations are North Korea, Pakistan and Iran. Given the trend over the years, it is almost certain that Israel will soon make it to the bottom of even that dubious list. Clearly, the Arab Muslims who hate Israel are winning the PR war, representing Israel as bigoted racist oppressors of the "Palestinians" - while completely overlooking the relentless history of bloody terror from which Israel must protect itself. This deteriorating image is indeed eroding support from nations formerly considered reliable friends of Israel.

Consider, for example, the nations of the European Union. Since WWII these nations have had much to atone for regarding Israel, so have been a source of important support. This has been changing in recent years. One reason is the growing Muslim population of European cities, many of which are now 25% Muslim, or more. Further, Arab countries look to Europe for pricy technologies while offering a sea of oil to power Europe's economy. True, Europe does business with tiny Israel too, but there can be no question where the larger economic interests lay. Just recently, as USA Secretary of State Kerry has been pushing for renewed negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, the EU has made some surprising anti-Israel moves. The Jerusalem Post of 7/21/13 published an article about this entitled, Europe Hypocritically Lashes Out Against Israel. The heading states; "The European Union has disposed of any pretense of even-handedness with Israel, and has effectively repudiated the concept of disputed territories." The article details how the EU has attempted to use economic coercion to force Israel to adopt a position that is both illegal and clearly against the best interests of the Jewish State. Fortunately, Netanyahu refused to bow to EU pressure.

Perhaps even more disturbing, there are clear signs that the USA is softening in its support of Israel. No US President in history has done more to damage Israel's position in the world than the current President. Israelis have taken note of this, and this recent headline says it all; Poll: Only 10 percent of Israelis view Obama favorably. There are many good reasons for the low rating which we need not go into in depth here.  However, one fairly recent indication of the problem is the fact that Obama sought to make some changes in the Democratic Platform last year, as reported in this headline; Democrats Drop God and Jerusalem from Party Platform. While it is true that the Democrats backed off due to political expediency, it is also true that they showed their hand, revealing what they really think. A news article from that period explained important facts under the title: Why Obama has abandoned Israel and Jews should abandon Obama.  Here is the more disturbing fact, however. Many Americans of all stripes seem to be softening in their support of Israel - even American Jews - as suggested in this recent headline: American Jews are giving up on Israel.

As this ministry has been warning about since 2006, this growing negativity toward Israel will likely be a major factor enabling the upcoming Psalm 83 War. Note these verses:

"For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, "Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more." For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You.." Psalm 83:2-5

And remember, as disturbing as the shifting public opinion against Israel may be, the only friend that really matters in this equation is Elohim, friend of Abraham, Isaac and Israel.
