Most people see Exodus as the dramatic story of how God liberated the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt. It is that, but it is also much more than that. The bigger story of Exodus is why YHWH delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt. There are many speculations about that. Some say it was because of the forefathers. Some say it was so that YHWH could reveal His awesome power and greatness by obliterating the gods of Egypt. Some think He did it because He wanted to use the Exodus event as a prophetic picture of things to come. Each of these perceptions represent something YHWH accomplished through the Exodus - but none of these are THE reason He did it. We know that because, on Mount Sinai YHWH specifically told Moses WHY He liberated Israel from Egypt. The reason He gave is shocking, absolutely stunning and entirely unpredictable, and yet, most people read right over it without giving it a second thought. So what was THE reason for the Exodus? Here it is, in the very words of YHWH:
They [Israel] shall know that I am YHWH their Elohim, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them: I am YHWH their Elohim. Shemot/Exodus 29:46
It could not be stated any plainer. The driving motive in the heart of YHWH for the Exodus was so that He could "dwell among" His people, Israel! That is why the Covenant YHWH made with Israel at Sinai, followed by the institution of the Tabernacle with the Tabernacle service are far more important to the Exodus story than the Exodus itself. The Covenant and the Tabernacle represent what the book of Exodus is really all about: YHWH creating a framework by which He could dwell with His people Israel.
This revelation is the central pivot around which the whole book of Exodus, and the rest of the Torah, turns. Our Midrash this week will take us to the next level of understanding beyond this amazing revelation, ever more deeply into the heart and mind of YHWH. In this lesson we will learn about His desire to bless His people with a favored approach through which they could receive favorable answers to all of their requests. Listener Comment: Complete Picture in the Tabernacle
Nowhere in Scripture do we
find such a precious gem of truth or such a complete
picture of the measure of the stature of Christ,
which Paul relates in Ephesians 4:13, than in the
Old Testament Tabernacle. The verse reads:
"Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of
the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man,
unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of
Christ."
Again Paul mentions it as being figures, types, or
shadows of the heavenly things of the Christ that
was to come and His ministry.
The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into
the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while
as the first tabernacle was yet standing: Which was
a figure for the time then present, in which were
offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not
make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining
to the conscience (Hebrews 9:8,9).
Since these are pictures or figures of Jesus Christ,
then surely there are many spiritual gems of
revelation that we can behold as we meditate on this
particular portion of the Word of the Lord.
I have been studying the OTT since 1972 and have
found many truths in it that have helped me and
showed me how to grow in Christ And become more like
Him. If you understand the OTT it will open up much
of the Bible to you.
Just one thought. In the Holly of Hollies there sits
the Candlestick one solid piece of gold, (no
measurements mentioned) signifying the Word of God
Is unlimited. Seven lamps, and seven stems with
knobs, bowls and almonds on them. They are numbered
and if you count them up you will have 66
knobs, bowls and almonds. Many centuries before we
got our Bible God already indicated 66 books.

Thank you for taking time to share your zeal for the wonderful truths that we find incorporated in the Tabernacle. I especially enjoyed your observation that the seven lamps, and seven stems with knobs, bowls and almonds add up to 66 - the same number as the number of books in the Bible. That's awesome! - since the revelation of Scripture is a light to our foot to direct our steps in His ways. It is a light we can depend upon.
