From Eliyahu
When the Declaration of Independence was first drafted it read “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and Property.” Property, in this context, largely referred to land. The colonists realized that secure rights to one's own land are indispensible to one's personal liberty. When nobody, not even the government, can control what you do on/with your own land, only then are you truly free. The colonists knew this truth from reading the Scriptures, not the least of which was Leviticus 25, which deals with the liberty-land connection in depth.
In the final draft of the Declaration of Independence, "life, liberty, and property" was changed to "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." While "the pursuit of happiness" is a lovely thought, this nebulous phrase lacks any real liberty-securing power, especially when compared to the concrete benefits of secure rights to land. Rather than securing your land-owner rights as a sovereign over your own domain, now liberty means doing what might make you "happy." Today, if you can pick out the movies you want to watch, the brand of beer you want to drink, and the football team you want to cheer, you have all the liberty promised by the de-fanged phrase. How did this slight of hand that so devalued real liberty occur in the Declaration? No one knows for sure, but the fact that it happened at all shows us that even then, in the midst of the "Founding Fathers", the age-old selfishness that has always sought to grow rich at the expense of the common man was at work, undermining the foundations of full liberty for every citizen - rights that can only be secured by land.
The lesson in this is that, in this world, there is always an evil elite few who keep the deck stacked in their favor, so that the common man is always kept under their control, for the elite to fleece at will. A pretense of liberty exists for the sake of order, but the real power and liberty remains in the hands of the elite who control the vast majority of the world's real wealth, it's land!
YHWH, of course, has always understood this. That is why His plan for the freedom of His people includes an everlasting grant of land. This is a very BIG THING in Scripture. Following are some verses that reveal how YHWH purposed and fulfilled this land grant in a practical, concrete way.
YHWH Gave a Land Grant to the Patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Israel, and to their seed for an Everlasting Covenant.
In that day YHWH made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates. Gen 15:18
I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be Elohim to you and to your seed after you. I will give to you, and to your seed after you, the land where you are traveling, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. I will be their Elohim.” Gen 17:7, 8
Elohim said to him [Israel], “I am Elohim Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your body. The land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, and to your seed after you will I give the land.” Gen 35:11, 12
YHWH Delivered the Children of Israel from bondage to give them their Land.
[Freedom requires land.]
Elohim spoke to Moses, and said to him, “I am YHWH; and I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as Elohim Almighty; but by my name YHWH I was not known to them. I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their travels, in which they lived as aliens. Moreover I have heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered my covenant. Therefore tell the children of Israel, ‘I am YHWH, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments: and I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a Elohim; and you shall know that I am YHWH your Elohim, who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it to you for a heritage: I am YHWH.’” Exo 6:2-8
YHWH sent the Children of Israel into the Land to take it.
“Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you, and all this people, to the land which I give to them, even to the children of Israel. I have given you every place that the sole of your foot will tread on, as I told Moses. From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border. Joshua 1:2-4
Through Joshua YHWH gave all the divisions of Israel their own inheritance of land.
So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that YHWH spoke to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Joshua 11:23
Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before YHWH. There Joshua divided the land to the children of Israel according to their divisions. Joshua 18:10
Here is the bottom line on this for the remnant of Israel here in these last days: According to all of this inspired documentation (and much more) the Land Grant distributed out to the divisions of the tribes of Israel still belongs to the seed of Israel, which remains mostly scattered throughout the earth without a clue of who they are or what their land inheritance is, according to the everlasting covenant of YHWH. Despite their ignorance, a specific land grant still belongs to each Israelite family, respectively. In fact, some of us are waking up to who we really are, what liberty really is, and Who provided everything we need to be free on our own land, so many centuries ago. As we come to know our forefathers better - as we come to grasp the full weight of the Covenant that is ours - as our hearts long to serve our Covenant Elohim in full liberty in our Covenant Land - the light is starting to dawn! hasatan would keep the theft of our land a secret from us, but now that we are starting to understand the truth we are putting the pieces together. When that full puzzle is formed the message becomes clear: step aside hasatan, we want our land back ..and in the Name of Y'shua Messiah we claim it!
Leviticus 25 is the basis for our Midrash this Sabbath. Don't miss it.
Blessings and Shalom,
Eliyahu Ben David
