Lately, "progressives" have been promoting the myth that our modern age is the most enlightened age ever experienced by humankind. For example, The New York Times recently (JAN. 6, 2018) carried an article entitled: Why 2017 Was the Best Year in Human History.

That article may have been inspired by a new book that just came out, now reverberating from the innards of the echo chamber of the "progressive" left. Harvard Professor Steven Pinker has just released the new book, Enlightenment Now, which, the caption reads, makes "The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress." It basically says the world is more enlightened and is doing better than ever, thank you very much.

Of course, it goes without saying that the progressive left is supposedly responsible for all of this bounty humanity is said to be now enjoying, even if they do have some rough going because "The Enlightenment project swims against currents of human nature–tribalism, authoritarianism, demonization, magical thinking–which demagogues are all too willing to exploit. Many commentators, committed to political, religious, or romantic ideologies, fight a rearguard action against it." So there you have it, the latest salvo against the hopeless deplorables in the culture war.

I'm thinking maybe someone should enlighten these "progressives" on just who pioneered reason and science in the first place. It was in fact, Bible believers who sought an understanding of the creation, for the glory of God.

The single brightest light in science, according to many scientists themselves, was Sir Isaac Newton.  Neil deGrasse Tyson, for example, has said that Isaac Newton was smarter than Einstein, and that the discoveries of Isaac Newton were "responsible for the industrial revolution." In other words, it was Isaac Newton that put us on the road leading to modern technology. Yet, this giant among scientists was not an atheistic humanist like so many "scientists" today. Rather, Newton believed in the Creator and he believed in the authenticity of the Holy Scriptures, and studied them daily. The true origin of modern science can be found in these words of his:     

From this fountain (the free will of God) it is those laws, which we call the laws of nature, have flowed, in which there appear many traces of the most wise contrivance, but not the least shadow of necessity. These therefore we must not seek from uncertain conjectures, but learn them from observations and experimental. - Isaac Newton

Observation and experimentation are the heart of Science, and Newton pioneered that method for the glory of God. From whence did his logical thinking come? No doubt his daily reading of the Bible had much to do with the soundness of thought that yielded the critical breakthroughs which became the very foundation of science. Newton was a believer in the Messiah of Israel, whom he looked to for wisdom. In no way did he see belief in God, the Son of God, or the Scriptures, as backward, or a hindrance to "progress." If anything, he is one excellent example among many other Bible believers who have truly been a blessing to mankind.

And what of social progress? Beneficial social change originated in countries where a Bible-based mindset has dominated. Take slavery for example. Humanists falsely blame Christians for slavery, but slavery did not originate with them. Slavery had been the bane of mankind in all countries for thousands of years before there were Christians, and simply continued forward from there. However, it was not humanists that abolished slavery (to the extent that it has been abolished). The "Abolitionists" of England were Bible believing people who stood up to the moneyed elite to set the captives free! George Fox and the Quakers, stood solidly against slavery, and spoke the truth against it, raising public awareness of the problem. Godly women took to wearing abolitionist Joseph Wedgwood’s jasperware cameo brooches, depicting a kneeling slave with the words “Am I not a man and a brother?” Those believing women also fought against slavery with the power of the purse, shunning not just slave-grown sugar, but also shops that sold it. They simply would not support the institutionalized evil against fellow-humans, and it was their conscience before God that caused them to take that stand. Member of Parliament, William Wilberforce, was a Bible believer, who with the backing of a growing host of other believers simply made it impossible for the slavetrade to continue in England. Not surprisingly, this wave of righteous outrage against slavery made its way through all Bible-believing nations, as a moral outcry born of the Scriptures.

Much more could be said about progress of civilization due to the Bible and Bible-believers. The Constitution of the United States is one shining example, standing as it does on this proposition: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights..."

Never before, since ancient Israel, had a nation been founded upon the claims of the Creator over mankind. This true but radical foundation is what makes all men equal, and is the foundation of all of our rights as humans upon this earth. Thomas Jefferson penned these wonderful words in the Constitution, but he did not invent the truth that they encapsulate.   

"Jefferson’s thought on the source of these rights was impacted by Oxford’s William Blackstone, who described “unalienable rights” as “absolute” rights–showing that they were absolute because they came from him who is absolute, and that they were, are, and always will be, because the Giver of those rights–Jefferson’s “Creator”–was, and is, and always be. Moreover, because we are “endowed” with them, the rights are inseparable from us: they are part of our humanity. In a word, the government did not give them and therefore cannot take them away." According to Scripture liberty is quite literally the gift of God. Without Him in the picture there can be no liberty. This is why a world based upon nothing more than a humanist ideal will, without fail, sink into darkness and oppression.

Be not deceived: Real progress among men comes about because of the love of God, and for no other reason. If we had waited for humanism to bring progress we would all still be waiting for the rich and powerful elite to liberate us - which they never would willingly do. No wonder they are fighting so fiercely on all fronts against the Bible and Bible-believers today! Unvarnished history stands against them, revealing as it does that it has been the love of God and fellow-man that brought genuine science into the world, that brought an end to slavery in Bible-believing nations, that endows us with “unalienable rights” and has blessed mankind with every other good thing. The love of God is, in fact, the source of real civilization; a gift from above, as the following passage reminds us.

We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Y'shua is the Son of Elohim, Elohim remains in him, and he in Elohim! We know and have believed the love which Elohim has for us. Elohim is love, and he who remains in love remains in Elohim, and Elohim remains in him. In this love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world.   1 John 4:14-17

Y'shua Messiah, the Son of God, walked among us and practiced love in this world every day. He showed us what love is all about. He healed multitudes of sick people, cast out demons from multitudes more, set the captives free, and proclaimed the Kingdom as the one true hope of the world. Our mission must include doing what He did, in His name. If doing that is perceived by atheists and misguided fools as hindering progress, so be it. In the end the unholy utopia of their humanist dream will miserably fail, in an unprecedented conflagration - but our Messiah will never fail, and His Kingdom shall reign forever and ever!

See this video! - September 23, 2017, we were told, would be the date of The Great Sign of Revelation 12. Dire end-of-the-world predictions were made. Yet, after that day of "The Great Sign" came and went, and the predictions failed to materialize, we heard little if anything explaining the failure. This was not the first time this has happened, and won't be the last. Why? Signs in the sky are foretold in Scripture for the last days. True to that prophecy, unusual heavenly signs do occur. In fact, signs in the sky often cause a clamor, with predictions of rapture and the end of the world. Yet, these signs come and go, and the predicted events fail to happen. This, of course, provides an opportunity for scoffers to gloat. Why does this keep happening? Could it be that these signs are significant, but they mean something different than YouTube preachers have guessed? There is, in fact, a unified message in these sky signs.
