As pointed out in the above quote, the founding fathers of America deliberately created a republic TO PREVENT the people exercising DIRECT COLLECTIVE CONTROL of the government. Such government directly by popular vote of a majority of the people has historically been called "democracy" as in the following definition:

1a : government by the people especially : rule of the majority

When you look up the word today, the definition has been expanded to include "a system of representation" but this was not the case when the founding fathers created the Republic. Webster`s 1828 dictionary states that a Republic is:

"A commonwealth; a state in which the exercise of the sovereign power is lodged in representatives elected by the people. In [then] modern usage, it differs from a democracy or democratic state, in which the people exercise the powers of sovereignty in person…"

In other words, fundamentally, democracy is a form of mob rule. It is two foxes and a chicken voting on what is for dinner. Democracy is based on no principle, other than the desires of the mob. It is millions of people, driven by self-interest, voting themselves money and benefits from the government, until the government is destroyed and dictatorship must take over. The founding fathers tried to avoid this outcome by giving America a Republican form of government based on certain unchangeable principles, enshrined in the Constitution.  

From the founding of the Republic in 1776, until the 20th century, no American president referred to America as a democracy. Early in the 20th century the Federal Reserve money system was instituted in America. A number of historians see this as the global elite, through the world bankers, gaining control of the money system of America, and through that, effectively hijacking control of the government itself. Shortly thereafter, Woodrow Wilson became the first president to refer to America as a democracy, and this terminology has been ongoing ever since. It is in the interest of the global elite to promote the idea that America is a democracy, because they financially control the levers of public discourse, by which (over time) they are able to sway the opinions, the behavior, and the votes, of the general public. Today, it has become common to use the term "democracy" in describing the American form of government, creating mass expectations that do not conform to the original vision of the Republic. For example, see this graphic [right] from an Axiom.com article published today. According to the poll this graphic cites, half of Americans have lost faith in American democracy - even though America was never intended to BE a democracy!

All of this illustrates the ignorance of the public at large regarding matters of government and authority. While authority is vitally important to the life of every person, it does not seem to be well-understood by the vast majority, with most not even understanding the sort of government authority exercised, even in their own country.

This ignorance and false expectations of the masses bodes poorly for the future, which is rapidly being directed by evil forces toward the world government of the antichrist, of Revelation 13.

Frankly, believers need to be smarter than that. We need to understand the fundamentals of authority as those fundamentals apply in our lives, today, so that we are not swept along in the rising confusion of this world.
