**************************************** From Eliyahu: Shalom friends, Feeling the ground shifting under your feet can be a very scary feeling. I've been through a few fairly small tremors at times and I remember wondering what would happen next. In those cases, fortunately, nothing too overwhelming did happen next. It was really more scary when I was on the phone having a normal conversation with a family member in California. Suddenly there was an alarmed voice on the other end of the phone, announcing that the house was shaking. Abruptly, the phone went dead. In the end it turned out alright, just another reminder of how quickly normal life can be rudely interrupted by the threat of imminent danger. There is another kind of quaking and shifting that can be even more disquieting. At this moment, while writing the previous line, a friend who doesn't know what I'm writing says; "I've always got weird stuff I've got to deal with." I couldn't put it better myself. A lot of us feel that way. Too much change, too often, is irritating and disconcerting, yet, seems to be coming at each of us in an unending stream of micro-shocks. It gives one the feeling of constant tremors in our lives, coming to each of us like shifting ground under our feet. The shifting ground in this case is not the actual ground though. It is modern human society, shaking and quaking everywhere. Weird science, weird weather, strange health problems, a lot of strange people, the fragile economy, crazy politics, world tensions between nations, shifting societal norms - shaking, shaking everywhere. What does all of this change actually mean? Take the specter of ever-present corruption and scandal for example. We get numb to it after a while, but should we? Maybe it means something. Consider this for example:
Corruption, at least public perceptions of corruption, are indexed globally each
year. According to the index, its official. corruption is getting worse
globally. Only the countries on the map that are shown in color white are
perceived as being relatively corruption free, and frankly, that is suspect, at
least in my perception of the world. I'm thinking that maybe those countries are
better at covering things up. In any case, this latest index of corruption is at
crisis levels according to the indexing body. What does this mean for the
future? One thing I would glean from a globally high level of corruption in the public sector would be that, in too many cases, the needs of citizens are secondary to favors from the wealthy and powerful, whose interests always seem to dominate. This is not a good thing for ordinary people, but the trend indicates that corruption is beyond our control, and getting worse. How does one navigate their way across the shifting ground of an unpredictable world like this and not be damaged by it? That is the question. Here too the Scriptures have the answer, as we look to the example of Yeshua and His disciples. They too lived in a world of unrelenting change, and corruption everywhere. We can learn a lot by considering what they did when the ground started shifting under their feet, and brought them to the point of crisis. What will you do when the shifting ground of this world catches up with you? Maybe it would be a good idea not to miss this lesson, at our Tsiyon meeting tonight, as we look into this very question. Please, join me, for our live video stream at tsiyon.net, at 8 pm cst, as we consider Luke 22:35-71, and get something solid under your feet that cannot be shaken.Shalom,
Eliyahu **************************************** Have you seen News Bytes? Emily Rose posts a new NewsBytes segment every week at our Tsiyon Road Radio YouTube Channel. Emily makes these thought-provoking videos for everybody, but she especially wants to bring the same hope she has been blessed with to other young people through her NewsByte YouTube videos. If she was making videos about cooking, movies, kittens, or just about anything else, YouTube would be helping her to get her videos shown. However, since she is addressing topics of importance from a Biblical perspective, and she is not supporting the popular agenda, her video views are being suppressed on the platform. Pretty much all publishers classed as "conservatives" are experiencing this suppression throughout social media, including on YouTube - and this is also happening to Tsiyon. We need your help to spread the word about these videos. Please subscribe to our channel and watch these videos, then send the links to others, with an emphasis on young folks, so they will be exposed to this life-changing video series featuring Emily! To see all of Emily's NewsBytes videos, and others that are coming out every week, click the Tsiyon graphic below, and please subscribe at YouTube to our channel. Together we can help Emily get these out to the people who need to see them! ****************************************
