From Eliyahu:
Shalom friends,
According
to Silicon Valley "the death problem" can be solved, if only they throw enough
money at it, and throwing money at it, they are. Funded by Silicon
Valley elites, scientists and entrepreneurs are working on a variety of
techniques, from attempting to stop cells from aging, to claimed DNA hacks, to
theorizing about uploading the human mind into a computer, to injecting young
blood into older people. All of these claims are dubious at best. For example,
earlier this year the FDA denounced the transfusion of young blood into older
people as quackery that is both ineffective and dangerous. I might add to that,
expensive, costing $8,000 per treatment and up. It turns out you could make a
lot of money if ever you really could solve the "death problem." [see reprint
article below for more]
Some people feel pretty sure that science will eventually
solve "the death problem" by unlocking the secret of immortality. The worry is,
science can't give them immortality right now. The solution (some think) is
cryonic freezing. Gizmodo explains:
"Corpse-freezing
hasn’t exactly gone mainstream, but most people are now familiar with
the concept: you lay out a ton of cash, sign some papers, and spend a
couple post-death decades in a cutting-edge meat locker, calmly awaiting
the conditions for your eventual revival. Over 300 cold, dead
Americans—or dead, cold American brains, depending on which procedure
they opted for (whole-body vs. brain-only)—can currently be found in
storage facilities across the country. All of them took a gamble—one
that was pretty cheap, metaphysically speaking: the worse case scenario
here is just continued death. For the time being, that is also the only
scenario. Only time will tell whether these extremely dead optimists
will once more, someday, get stuck in traffic, and/or roam an uncanny
Singularity-scape with their AI-abetted computer brains."
Unfortunately for the frozen dead, the cryonic
freezing process itself destroys the body it is claiming to preserve! Dr.
Joao Pedro de Magalhaes, coordinator of the UK Cryonics and
Cryopreservation Research Network, put's it simply; "with today’s
technology, cryonics severely damages the body’s cells." In other words,
your body is far more complicated than a simple human popsicle. You can't be
frozen and unfrozen and remain functional, even IF you could be revived.
That means the last resort of warehousing your corpse in a giant freezer
until science can grant you immortality won't get you there.
To
those who are used to getting whatever they want in this technologically
advanced era, this situation is simply intolerable! It is time to demand
immortality! Raising public awareness of the problem should do the trick! "Our
purpose is to unite a critical mass of like-minded people who support radical
life extension and physical immortality in order to inspire revolutionary change
in how radical life extension is viewed in our world." So says The Coalition
for Radical Life Extension web site [rlecoalition[dot]com]. Of course, that
organization of rich old people wanting to buy eternal life looks to science,
and to their money, to bring them immortality. But really, how silly is that, to
think that death can be overcome by some sort of public relations campaign? Are
we not all painfully aware of death already? Death cannot be overcome by a
popular vote, or that would have already happened a long time ago.
The "death problem" has not been solved by humans because
even the fundamentals are far beyond us to scientifically define or to control.
What is consciousness? What is life? What is death? On the level of common
experience, we all know what these things are. That is not true at all on a
scientific level.
One
thing seems pretty clear though. There is a lot more to life and consciousness
than data processing. To illustrate, the fastest supercomputer in the world as
of 2018, the Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer, can process more data faster than
other computers in the world. To appreciate how fast that is you have to know
what FLOPS are. FLOPS stand for floating-point operations per second (FLOPS),
that is, how many operations can be performed per second. petaFLOPS are
a unit of computing speed equal to one thousand million million (1015)
floating-point operations per second. Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer
measures in at 125 petaFLOPS (theoretical peak)—five times as fast as the
supercomputer competitor just below it. Its a safe bet that supercomputer can
process number calculations faster than you can. Yet, it is not alive, nor is it
conscious, in any meaningful sense of those words.
By the way, the Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer, fast as
it is, is not even close to being as smart as you are - no computer is. The
human brain is estimated to operate at about 1 exaFLOP (that's 1,000 petaFLOPS)
- and look at the amazing size difference, not to mention the fact that you are
alive and even our biggest computer is not! If anyone were to suggest that the
Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer evolved on its own with no intelligent designer
or builder involved, we would know that's a lie just by looking at it. The human
brain is far more advanced, so shouldn't the same logic apply? If this doesn't
illustrate the reality of intelligent design I can't imagine what would!
Yes, we have an intelligent Creator, and He has told us
that eternal life can be ours, but only through faith in His Son, Yeshua the
Messiah. In fact, Yeshua proved he has power over death by raising His friend,
Lazarus, from the dead - after Lazarus was already dead for four days! This is
no myth, having been witnessed by onlookers and faithfully documented so that
you and I can have hope. The point is, if He could raise Lazarus from the dead
He can do the same for you! Want everlasting life? Look to the Source of life -
look to Messiah!
John 11:1-44 reveals Messiah's answer to the "death
problem."
Join us tonight at

for the real answer, and the real Source, of eternal life.
Shalom,
Eliyahu

'Young blood' company Ambrosia halts patient
treatments after FDA warning.
The FDA warned consumers against infusions of
plasma from young donors, saying there is no evidence that they slow aging
or memory loss, and can be dangerous.
Reprint from: NBCNews[dot]com, FEB. 19, 2019
A
company that charged patients thousands of dollars for infusions of blood
plasma from younger donors said Tuesday that it had stopped treating
patients after the Food and Drug Administration warned consumers against
such treatments, purported to prevent aging and memory loss.
The company, Ambrosia, said on its website that it had “ceased patient
treatments.” The announcement came hours after the FDA issued a statement
saying there is no proof that plasma from young donors can be used as a
treatment for dementia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s
disease or post-traumatic stress disorder, as some companies have claimed.
The plasma infusions can also be dangerous, the agency added, because they
are associated with infectious, allergic, respiratory and cardiovascular
risks.
Be cautious about establishments in several states offering infusions of
plasma from young donors as a treatment for a variety of conditions
including normal aging and heart disease.
“We’re alerting consumers and health care providers that treatments using
plasma from young donors have not gone through the rigorous testing that the
FDA normally requires in order to confirm the therapeutic benefit of a
product and to ensure its safety,” Dr. Scott Gottlieb, food and drug
commissioner, and Dr. Peter Marks, director of the agency’s Center for
Biologics Evaluation and Research, said in a statement.
The federal agency noted that several businesses offer infusions of plasma
costing thousands of dollars per infusion for a variety of conditions. Such
companies can often avoid FDA drug approval processes because plasma
transfusions are a well-established procedure. Ambrosia, for example, had
been charging $8,000 for one liter of blood and $12,000 for two as part of a
clinical trial. The blood was donated by 16- to 25-year-olds to consumers
ages 35 and older.
Ambrosia’s founder, Jesse Karmazin, 34, a Stanford Medical School graduate,
launched the startup three years ago. In 2017, he began a clinical trial and
touted impressive results, claiming that young plasma could prevent
Alzheimer’s and lower blood cholesterol. But he never made the results of
his study public.
Ambrosia isn’t the only company that aggressively marketed scientifically
dubious potions to those desperate to preserve their youth.
Other medical establishments, such as the Maharaj Institute in Florida, have
started expensive clinical trials and openly discussed plans to charge
patients for transfusions of plasma from young donors. In fact, people
considering enrolling said they had been told they would have to pay
$285,000, STAT reported last March.
“Though the use of young plasma is promising and hopeful, there needs to be
rigorous trials to ensure therapeutic benefits and safety standards for each
indication of use,” said Dr. Sharon Sha, a neurologist at the Stanford
Neuroscience Health Center in Palo Alto, California. “I also have concerns
about 'for pay' sites that encourage participation by patients who are not
aware of the risks and can be desperate for a cure.”
Plasma is the liquid part of blood that contains clotting factors,
antibodies and other important proteins. Plasma infusions from young donors
have been shown to have mildly positive results in Alzheimer's patients,
according to a small Stanford University study.
Plasma transfusions are normally given to correct for blood-clotting
deficiencies in patients who are bleeding. Plasma is not FDA-approved to
treat other conditions, such as normal aging or memory loss.
“The administration of plasma for indications other than those recognized or
approved by the FDA should be performed by a qualified investigator or
sponsor who has an active investigational new drug application with the
FDA,” the FDA said.
