Consider this:

2020 may be the darkest year in living memory. Fires across Australia, locust plagues of Biblical proportions in multiple countries, natural disasters, and the awful and confusing shock of Coronavirus killing hundreds of thousands and bringing the world to a near standstill for months - with no end in sight. The global economy is faltering, with all kinds of shortages, jobs lost, businesses destroyed, houses of worship vacated -all by government decree. On the international level, nations are reeling, old disputes are erupting into violence and turmoil between nations, and the entire international order is overturned. Follow this up with devastating social unrest, cities burning, violence and murder, police under fire, historical monuments that have survived for many decades now being toppled and destroyed in the streets by unruly mobs, and, through all this, public officials refuse to uphold and enforce the law - even commending and literally bowing down to the lawbreakers, leaving ordinary citizens fearing for their safety and security, and even more so, for their future. In a time of unprecedented technology with a potential for greater enlightenment than ever before, the world has instead, sunk into a dense darkness of barbarism characterized by ignorance, rage, and profound confusion. An inexplicable mental illness seems to have engulfed the world. Why?

Some would say, and some would want you to believe, the narrative that all of this has come about through a random convergence of seemingly unrelated events - simply the chaos of an ultimately uncontrollable Darwinian world. Of course, this is a lie. It is too much like a soup with just the right ingredients and spices served up to order, for any person who may still cling to a rational mind to believe this perfect brew of chaos soup wasn't deliberately cooked up.

Cooked up by whom - and why? And where is this all going to end up?

Timeless Biblical principles unfolding before our eyes are the key to understanding all of this. Some of these principles were masterfully woven together into the imaginary world, the legendarium, of J. R. R. Tolkien, defining the fantasy world of Lord of the Rings fame. In those books an almost imperceptible rising dark cloud of evil began to intermittently disturb the otherwise tranquil patterns of life in the realms of Middle Earth. While most paid it no mind, it was seen and prepared for by the righteous and the wise. This same phenomenon has been going in in our world for a while, and the darkness has now risen to the highest level yet, having now broken through into this unprecedented turmoil of which I speak.  

Tonight I will share with you what I am seeing; A rising tide, a dark cloud covering the earth, in some ways very similar to the story of the Lord of the Rings. Like Gandalf and his companions-in-arms, we shall look into this thing, we shall begin to uncover the dark truth behind it, and through this inquiry, we will discern the way to go.
