Consider this:
 Tonight
at sundown is the start of Atonement Day.
Atonement Day is, of course, about
Atonement.
Atonement is, of course, about
Hope!
Here are some marvelous Psalms you
might want to contemplate during Atonement Day (and anytime):
Be strong, and let your
heart take courage, all you who hope in YHWH! Psalms 31:24
Behold, YHWH’s eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his
loving kindness; to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in
famine. Our soul has waited for YHWH! He is our help and our shield. For
our heart rejoices in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let
your loving kindness be on us, YHWH, since we have hoped in you.
Psalms 33:18-22
“Surely every man walks like a shadow. Surely they busy themselves in
vain. He heaps up, and doesn’t know who shall gather. Now, Lord, what do
I wait for? My hope is in you. Psalms 39:6-7
Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope
in Elohim! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my
Elohim! Psalms 43:5
You who hear prayer, to you all men will come. Sins overwhelmed me, but
you atoned for our transgressions. Blessed is one whom you choose, and
cause to come near, that he may live in your courts. We will be filled
with the goodness of your house, your holy temple. By awesome deeds of
righteousness, you answer us, Elohim of our salvation. You who are the
hope of all the ends of the earth, of those who are far away on the
sea.. Psalms 65:2-5
In you, YHWH, I take refuge. Never let me be disappointed. Deliver me in
your righteousness, and rescue me. Turn your ear to me, and save me. Be
to me a rock of refuge to which I may always go. Give the command to
save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. Rescue me, my Elohim, from
the hand of the wicked, from the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
For you are my hope, Lord YHWH; my confidence from my youth. I have
relied on you from the womb. You are he who took me out of my mother’s
womb. I will always praise you. Psalms 71:1-6
I have taken your testimonies as a heritage forever, for they are the
joy of my heart. I have set my heart to perform your statutes forever,
even to the end. I hate double-minded men, but I love your Torah. You
are my hiding place and my shield. I hope in your word. Depart from me,
you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my Elohim! Uphold me
according to your word, that I may live. Let me not be ashamed of my
hope. Hold me up, and I will be safe, and will have respect for your
statutes continually. Psalms 119:111-117
Out of the depths I have cried to you, YHWH! Lord, hear my voice. Let
your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions. If you, YAH, kept a
record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with
you, therefore you are feared. I wait for YHWH! My soul waits. I hope in
his word. My soul longs for Adonai more than watchmen long for the
morning; more than watchmen for the morning. Israel, hope in YHWH, for
with YHWH there is loving kindness. With him is abundant redemption. He
will redeem Israel from all their sins. Psalms 130:1-8
Israel, hope in YHWH, from this time forth and forevermore. Psalms
131:3
Don’t put your trust in princes, each a son of man in whom there is no
help. His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day,
his thoughts perish. Happy is he who has the EL of Jacob for his help,
whose hope is in YHWH, his Elohim: who made heaven and earth, the sea,
and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever; who executes justice
for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. YHWH frees the
prisoners. YHWH opens the eyes of the blind. YHWH raises up those who
are bowed down. YHWH loves the righteous. Psalms 146:3-8
YHWH takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his
loving kindness. Praise YHWH, Jerusalem! Praise your Elohim, Tsiyon!
Psalms 147:11-12
We
