Be mighty!

From Eliyahu

Consider this:

Mighty in the Scriptures? That sounds great, but who has time for that? Life is just too hectic, and even dangerous, to spend much time in the Scriptures - or so many people seem to think. They are right about one part of that; life has gotten dangerous. The whole world has been wearing masks and have been "social distancing" for a year now, and it has turned the world on its head. Millions have lost their jobs, innumerable small businesses have been closed, and many families are mourning the deaths of loved ones. People are hurting and have big problems right now. Besides that, the future looks bleak with economic woes, unrest and instability telegraphing unknown troubles over the horizon. Many are too busy looking for solutions to spend time getting into the Scriptures. Many of those people think the experts must have the answers.

Actually, bypassing the Scriptures to trust in the experts for the answers to life's problems is a grave mistake (wornout pun intended). Why? Because different "experts" have different answers. Why? Because they are all getting paid by somebody! Or do you still think, after all the evidence to the contrary, that PHD after someone's name means they can be trusted? Here's a news flash: so-called "science" is nothing but a gun for hire. Scientists may do good science, but they are at least just as likely to be putting a spin on their "science" that will keep the grants coming and keep their career flourishing. That's science today. What about all the other experts? Don't even get me started on doctors, lawyers and politicians!

Don't be a dummy!
Man does not have the answers!

Do you think I'm cynical? No, I'm just giving you wisdom from the Scriptures!

Here is what they say about the experts:

Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish.
Psalms 146:3-4 NKJV

and this

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "HE CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR OWN CRAFTINESS"; and again, "THE LORD KNOWS THE THOUGHTS OF THE WISE, THAT THEY ARE FUTILE." Therefore let no one boast in men.
1 Corinthians 3:18-21 NKJV

There is lots of knowledge in the world, but very little real wisdom. The problem with knowledge is in selecting what knowledge applies to your problem. Wisdom is knowing what knowledge applies in every situation! As Scripture says:

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble. Proverbs 4:7, 10-12 NKJV

Get WISDOM
Wisdom from the Bible

Notice the promise of the Scriptures regarding the wisdom found therein: long life, right paths (quality of life), and success! Do you really think you will ever find anything as useful as that on YouTube?

The passage above says to "get wisdom", but where can you get the wisdom you need to make your way through the minefield that is the 21st century? You must turn to the same source of wisdom that all truly great men and women have always turned to: turn to the Scriptures for wisdom! Study them and feed you heart and your brain every day to become wise! As Paul wrote to his young apprentice, Timothy:"from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise." Diligence in the Scriptures will make you wise. Don't neglect that. To do so is to handicap yourself. 2 Timothy 3:15 NKJV

To be "mighty in the Scriptures" is to be a walking Bible. You will be "mighty in the Scriptures" when you have fed your mind and heart on the Scriptures to the point where you think in such a way that the right verse comes to mind for each challenge or problem. Now, you have wisdom! That can be you, if you value His Word enough to deliberately fill yourself with it each day. It's not hard. A little each day works wonders, and you will often find that our loving Father has ordered your life in such a way that the Word you focus on in any given day will be exactly the right word for the problems of that day. Do this, and wisdom will guard all your steps through every hazard of life.

The book of Acts is rich with examples of people who were "mighty in the Scriptures." Certainly, we see this in the travels of Paul that we are considering in our Tsiyon meeting tonight. That's tonight at tsiyon.net, at 8 pm cst, for an extraordinary journey in the book of Acts.

Blessings and good health to you!
