Turn Back

From Eliyahu

Consider this:

The 6th Hebrew Month began this year on the 9th of August. It is the custom of Israel to observe a forty day period of Teshuvah (turning back, repentance, answer) starting with that first day of the 6th month, ending on the 10th day of the 7th month, concluding with the solemn set appointment of Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). The 6th Hebrew month is therefore a time each year to prepare for the Ten Days of Awe in the 7th month in which Israel is examined, sins are judged and atonement is applied. This is a special time to set ourselves, our house, and our nation in order, to be inspected and dealt with by our High Priest, Yeshua.

Observing the Season of Teshuvah is not an appointment that YHWH has set for Israel. However, it is based on solid ground in the Torah, on the 40 days that Moses was in the mountain receiving the Covenant from YHWH. As you no doubt recall, while Moses was away with YHWH the nation turned away from the path of righteousness, made a golden calf idol and fell into debauchery - all greatly offending the Elohim of Israel. At the end of that 40 days Moses returned and the righteous judgment of YHWH fell as an awesome weight of destruction on the evildoers. This was a national disaster that could have been entirely avoided if the people had been examining their own lives and been setting things right, during that special time of examination and instruction from Elohim. (Exodus 32)

The Season of 40 days of Teshuvah each year, ending with examination and righteous judgment of the nation at Yom Kippur, is the moral equivalent of that same time period of Moses in the mountain in which Israel sinned. Apparently, elders of our nation had the good sense to see that equivalence, so established the 40 day period of Teshuvah in which the people of YHWH's nation focus on setting themselves, their houses, and their nation in order - turning back to the way of righteousness regarding any lapses. This custom of observing the 40 days of Teshuvah each year, though not a set appointment given by YHWH, therefore still rests upon a solid Biblical foundation, so I and my house choose to observe it. If you haven't done that before you should consider it. Let me tell you what it involves.

Turn
Back

It's all about honesty with ourselves and with Him.

Yeshua had a way to get at the heart of everything. He told us: "The hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24

The kind of "truth" Yeshua is talking about here begins with making a true accounting of one's own spiritual condition in the inner room of one's own spirit. It is in this inner place that the individual worshiper meets God via the Holy Spirit. True worship requires a true dialog in that inner place with Him. Such a true dialog requires the individual to be honest with himself/herself, and then to be honest with Him. A true worship relationship with the Father requires this level of intimate honesty about one's self with Him. He can immediately see through excuses and self-deceptions, so there is no point to insult Him by trying to obscure the truth. Neither are there any perfect people - which is why we all need the atoning sacrifice of Yeshua.

If you won't be honest with Him you will not hear from Him. If you do not hear from Him you can very easily be led by the enemy into darkness. Teshuvah/repentance is all about examining yourself with Him, in that private room of your spirit, seeing yourself warts and all, to receive His correction in any areas of your life He chooses to focus on. Trust Him, He is gentle with those who come to Him "in truth" and deals with what He sees as the major issues at the time - He's not expecting that you will be up to perfect level in one go. On the contrary, this is an ongoing process of grace in the life of every disciple of Yeshua that causes the believer to keep growing and thriving in his/her walk over time. This is the way to make progress with Him in Yeshua (you must depend on the blood of Yeshua A LOT) There is no other way.

Following personal Teshuvah/repentance, there is family repentance in which the family head must take responsibility for his family before YHWH, to work together with Him to set his house in order. Beyond that, there is national repentance, in which we all must share in the responsibility of our tribe and nation to turn from the ways of our national past, back to our national responsibilities in our covenant with YHWH. Frankly, His people need to be focusing on all of these areas, especially in this Year 6, before the upcoming Shmita Year. That's why I believe this Teshuvah season is especially important for all of us in this specific year. I hear Him say we must take stock of ourselves, our families and our nation right now, because major challenges are ahead for all of us, and we need to be spiritually prepared for what is coming.

Our Fast Track message tonight ties in with that. Our nation is unique in all the world, yet so far we have not fully lived up to the greatness YHWH has planned for us. We all need to get our heads around YHWH's vision for His nation, to get fully on board with YHWH's Plan. That's why our first Fast Track message for this month will be The Nation of Divine Destiny Written in the Stars. Please see this in the context of Teshuvah to catch the fullness of the Divine Vision for our Nation!  Join me tonight at Tsiyon.Net at 8:00 PM CST for our online Tsiyon meeting, as part of your Teshuvah considerations.

Blessings and good health to you!
