Consider this:

 

Have you noticed the change in the spiritual atmosphere this decade? There is a negativity in the atmosphere that seems to be everywhere. Certainly, we see it in the news. It is as if there is a war going on in society. Some call it the culture war, but it is far bigger than that. Millions of Bible believers are being publicly shamed and attacked as evil, simply because they do not agree with the forces that are pulling down all of the Biblical boundaries in society, attempting to make over society in the devil's image.

 

Pushback against that assault is happening, exposing a lot of corruption arising from bitterness, jealousy, selfish ambition, and lying against the truth - especially lying - so much lying. Lies layered upon lies, layered upon more lies, while all the while suppressing the truth. The unrelenting lies are spewed out as a fog of war that hangs over the spiritual atmosphere creating a dense and dark confusion, out of which every kind of evil deed is multiplied upon the cursed world of wayward mankind.

    

The effect of this assault is to create a powerful force of coercive pressure on people everywhere to conform and go along - or- to fight back against the people who are seen as causing all this trouble. Yes, bitter hatred between countrymen keeps boiling up from the cauldron of bitter brew, leaving us to wonder when (not if) the inevitable conflagration will occur, and whether anyone will be left standing when its over.     

 

Many people, motivated by fear, or simply by a self-absorbed focus on their own interests, remain blind to the looming disaster. They are just like the people of Noah's day who took no note of what was happening, or why. They still had no clue when the waters fell from the sky, and washed them all away. Unfortunately, we will have to do the same thing with such people that Noah did - in the end we will have to let them go. There is nothing we can do to save them.

 

We can, however, get through this ourselves, if we get a clear grasp of where this is coming from and what is really happening, and then deal with it in faith. Start with the fundamentals of Scripture about this.

Notice this passage from James:

"If you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t boast and don’t lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed."

James 3:14-16

According to this passage an atmosphere of bitterness, jealousy, selfish ambition, lying against the truth, confusion and evil deeds is "demonic" - the source of the whole nasty atmosphere the world is experiencing right now is the spiritual  forces of wickedness, evil spirits, yes, demons!

 

Do you see that? If you really see that then you will understand how futile it is to involve yourself in that whole demonic mess by fighting against flesh and blood. For you, and any who look to you for help, to get through this intact, you will need to have your eyes opened to the demonic attacks all around you, and you will need to know how to overcome the demons!

 

I know. You don't like war. You don't like confrontation. You don't really want to be involved in a war against demons. It can be tempting to just ignore that the war exists, and just go on with your life. You can do that, but if you do you will have just surrendered to the demonic forces and given them permission to do whatever they want with you.

 

People make that choice every day. That's why all the pain and suffering continues to go on every day. If you don't want to be part of that you will have to take up warfare against the demons - because they are making war on you either way. People? - Now that's another story. We aren't making war on people.    

"The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." James 3:17-18

Last week we focused on helping you to recognize some of the traps the demons are using to get possession of people. From that you should now realize that a lot of people are either demonically possessed or demonically influenced, which explains a lot about why modern society is becoming so dark. This week we are going beyond avoiding those demonic traps to making spiritual war on attacking demons!

You need to know that you can fight the demons and win. And you need to know how to do that. If you are hosting a Kingdom Outpost this information is a must. Really, this is essential for every believer.
