From Eliyahu
Consider this:
Have you ever wondered how many of your
neighbors believe we are living in the end times? We can't answer that
question for every country, but if you live in the USA we can give you the
latest official figures on that.
These figures are according to a Pew
Research Center survey conducted in April of 2022. In the United States,
roughly four-in-ten (39%) – including nearly half of Christians (47%) – say
“yes” when asked whether they believe “we are living in the end times.”
While not a majority, that amounts to many millions of Americans who believe we have come to the end of the world.
However, some categories of Americans had even
higher numbers. For example, a full two-out-of-three (67%) of those identified
with a 'Religious Commitment' of 'High' believe "we are living in the end
times." Why are two-to-one highly committed people believing that these are
the last days? I would expect that this is probably the category that has
invested the most study into the subject, so know the signs of the end when
they see them - and most are seeing them!
What signs of the last days are people
seeing?
I don't have an official survey on that, but
my own informal survey of popular Christian websites offers a pretty consistent list
of prophetic signs from Scripture that most Christians point to as
indicating that we are living in the last days. The beliefnet website
offers a typical Christian list of signs in their article entitled
The Final 11 Signs of the End of the World. They list those signs
as: Deception, Hunger and Famine, Natural Disasters, New Diseases, War,
Rumors of War, Signs in the Heavens, Persecution, Lawlessness, and Jesus. In
the main, I agree with this Christian list of signs, which I agree we are
seeing unfold in our world today.
Of course, there are nuances of differences in
understanding of some of these, among Christians, and between Messianics,
such as myself, and Christians. However, to get too much into differences
here would be to miss the main point, which is: all of these believers of
different religious backgrounds are seeing the same big picture: we ARE
living in the end times!
What I respectfully cannot agree with is the
title of the beliefnet article:
The Final 11 Signs of the End of the World. This title gives the
impression that these are the last remaining signs of the end - and this
simply is not true.
