From Eliyahu
You may be aware of my interest in Bible prophecy over decades. I have been
observing changes on the world stage and how certain of those events fit
into Bible prophecy. What I have observed from 1967 forward is the unfolding
of a pattern of development of End-Time events as laid out in Scripture.
Since the onset of the 21st Century I have been publicly sharing my
observations of unfolding Bible prophecy on the air, on the internet, and in
books and articles, and any other way that I can.
One constant focus of mine has been on the events and places of the
Middle-East. Israel of course, as the primary focus, but Israel’s neighbors
as well, with Turkey being of prominent importance. Why the big interest in
Turkey? Because the rise of Turkey as a dominant player in the region,
according to Scripture, occurs in the End-Time timeline just before the
outbreak of the Great Tribulation. I have taught on this a number of times
in the past, but Turkey remains pretty-much under the radar for most people,
so there is not a lot of interest in Turkey.
That is all about to change in the years leading up to the end of this
decade. You need to know about this now so that when these events unfold you
will recognize them from Scripture and you can prepare yourself and your
family to endure the things about to fall upon all of the inhabited earth.
No one will escape what is destined to occur as a result of these events –
no one except the wise who understand.
Now you know why I am sharing a series of teachings that focus on Turkey. I
will be sharing the first of these with you in our live stream tonight. To
enhance that for you, I’m going to give you a little refresher on recent
events in Syria, and Turkey’s involvement with that. Mind you, this is just
the first part of the story. You will have to stick with us for each
teaching to get it all.
Turkey's involvement in Syria, particularly its support for Abu Mohammad al-Jolani
and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), is a complex and evolving situation. I know
the temptation is to skip reading these points. Please don't do that. As you
read them they will fit together, forming a mental picture of Turkey as
regards recent events.
Recent Facts Focusing on Turkey:
Background on HTS and al-Jolani:
• HTS, originally known as Jabhat al-Nusra, is a Salafi-jihadist group that
emerged from al-Qaeda in Iraq. Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, a key figure in its
formation, has led the group since its inception.
• HTS has attempted to rebrand itself as a more moderate and capable
governing body, but it remains committed to Islamic extremist ideologies
revolving around Islamic world domination.
Turkey's Role:
• Turkey has historically supported various Syrian opposition groups,
including HTS, despite concerns about their extremist ties.
• Turkey has provided significant military support to HTS, including
advanced drones and other weaponry, as well as strategic support.
• Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime at the hands of HTS, in
December 2024, Turkey has increased its support for HTS, providing
logistical backing and advanced weaponry.
• Turkish officials, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, have engaged in
high-level diplomatic meetings with HTS leadership, signaling a shift
towards even closer ties with HTS.
Turkey’s Strategic Goals:
• Countering Kurdish
Forces: A stated objective for Turkey is to neutralize the threat posed
by Kurdish forces in northern Syria, particularly the Syrian Democratic
Forces (SDF). Turkey claims they have ties to Kurdish insurgents in
Turkey.
• Establishing Influence: Turkey aims to position itself as the dominant
foreign power in Syria, leveraging its support for HTS to achieve this
goal.
• Replacing Iranian Dominance: By taking the place of Iran in Syria,
Turkey has exalted itself as the leading Islamic nation in the eyes of
many fellow-Muslims.
• Refugee Management: Turkey seeks to manage the flow of Syrian
refugees, with plans to return millions of refugees currently in Turkey
back to Syria. The Syrian returnees owe a debt of gratitude to Turkey
for taking them in and caring for them during the Syrian civil war,
further cementing the influence of Turkey over Syria.
