design requires a disigner

From Eliyahu

Throughout the Bible, from start to finish, the Creator affirms that He designed and created the universe, including 'the earth ... and man upon it'. Further, the Bible, from the very first chapter of Genesis onward, places man at the center of God's creative plan, implying that the universe itself was designed and created to provide the environment needed for the creation and existence of man upon the earth. YHWH has stated:

"I have made the earth, and created man on it. I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens; and I have commanded all their army ... says YHWH of Hosts." Isaiah 45:12

The pioneers of modern science believed this truth. While the term "scientist" wasn't widely used in those days (it only became common in the 19th century), these thinkers were among the pioneers of what we call science today. They followed systematic methods to study nature, often referred to as natural philosophers at that time. Here is what some of these pioneers of science had to say:

- Johannes Kepler (1571–1630) – A pioneering astronomer, Kepler believed that studying the heavens was a way to understand God’s creation. He famously wrote, "I am merely thinking God's thoughts after Him."
- Robert Boyle (1627–1691) – Often called the father of modern chemistry, Boyle was deeply religious and wrote extensively on the relationship between science and faith.

- Blaise Pascal (1623–1662) – A mathematician and physicist, Pascal his famous Pensées defended religious belief and argued for faith in God.

- Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646–1716) – A philosopher and mathematician, Leibniz saw science and reason as complementary to faith and believed in a rational, ordered universe created by God.

These scientists saw their work as a way to uncover the laws set in place by a divine Creator. In other words, their purpose in science was to reveal the glory of God to be found in His handiwork. While all of these men were great men of science in their own right, none shown more brightly than the man whom famous scientists today hold to be the greatest scientist that ever lived, if not the true founder of science itself. Yes, I am speaking about Sir Isaac Newton.

Sir Isaac Newton made groundbreaking discoveries across multiple fields of science and mathematics. Here are some of his most famous contributions:

- Laws of Motion – Newton formulated three fundamental laws that describe the relationship between the motion of an object and the forces acting upon it.

- Law of Universal Gravitation – He proposed that every mass attracts every other mass in the universe, explaining planetary motion and tides.

- Calculus – Independently co-developed calculus, a mathematical framework essential for physics and engineering.

- Optics – Discovered that white light is composed of a spectrum of colors and developed the reflecting telescope.

- Newton’s Law of Cooling – Described how the rate of heat loss of a body is proportional to the temperature difference between the body and its surroundings.

- Binomial Theorem – Extended mathematical principles that are fundamental in algebra and probability.

- Newton’s Rings – Observed interference patterns in light, contributing to the study of wave optics.

Newton’s discoveries laid the foundation for modern physics and mathematics, influencing countless scientific advancements that led to modern science and are still in use today.

Isaac Newton saw the universe as evidence of divine design. Here are some quotes attributed to him that reflect his belief in God as the Creator:

- "Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who sets the planets in motion."

- "Atheism is so senseless. When I look at the solar system, I see the earth at the right distance from the sun to receive the proper amounts of heat and light. This did not happen by chance."

- "This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being."

- "I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily."

Newton devoted significant time to studying Scripture alongside his scientific pursuits, believing that understanding the natural world led to a greater appreciation of its Creator. His views on science and the Creator were deeply intertwined. It was this passion to know his Creator more intimately that gave rise to both pursuits as part of one harmonious quest to uncover the mysteries of God.

What is my point in mentioning all of these distinguished men of science, the very foundation on which modern science rests? Science would not exist if it weren't for these men and others like them who formed the bedrock of what we call science today - and they would not have done any of that except that the design of the universe by an intelligent Creator was obvious to them.

design requires a disignerdesign requires a disigner

Unfortunately, over time since then much of the scientific world became more interested in the imaginations of their own minds than the obvious truth that design is everywhere in Creation, giving evidence of the reality of the Grand Designer and Creator of it all.

That is not to say we don't have scientific evidence known to science supporting the proposition of a universe that was designed and created for a purpose. Modern science continues to uncover fascinating evidence of design in the natural world. Here are a few key areas where researchers are finding signs of intricate order and fine-tuning:

- Patterns in Nature – From the Fibonacci sequence in flowers to the symmetry in snowflakes, nature exhibits mathematical precision that suggests underlying order. Some scientists study these patterns to understand how they could possibly arise.

- Biological Complexity – Scientists have long marveled at the intricate structures in living organisms, such as the vertebrate eye, the interlocking bones and muscles of a bird’s wing, and the precise molecular machinery within cells. Researchers often argue that these features exhibit specified complexity that suggests intelligent design.

- Origin of Life – While Darwin’s theory attempts to explain how life evolved, it cannot account for the origin of life itself. The complexity of even the simplest living cells, including the precise arrangement of DNA and proteins, functioning according to an advanced code roughly similar to computer code, but far more advanced, cannot be accounted for by anything other than intentional design.

All of this and more comes under the scientific term: Fine-Tuning of the Universe. Physics has revealed that the fundamental constants of the universe—such as gravity, electromagnetism, and nuclear forces—are finely tuned to allow life to exist. Even slight variations in these constants would make life impossible, leading some scientists to the obvious ultimate cause. Namely, intentional design.

The odds against the fine-tuning of the universe arising without intentional design are incredibly huge. Physicist Lee Smolin has estimated that the probability of life-compatible physical constants arising by chance is 1 in 10^229 — an impossibly infinitesimal likelihood. The fine-tuning argument suggests that if fundamental forces like gravity, electromagnetism, and nuclear interactions were even slightly different, life as we know it would be impossible.

How do atheistic scientists refute the Creator they hate who designed the universe? The multiverse hypothesis has been suggested as the explanation, suggesting that our universe is just one of many, and that the conditions for life happened to align in this particular one completely by chance.

Many scientists and philosophers critique the multiverse theory for its lack of direct empirical evidence. For example, Anthony Aguirre, a physicist at the University of California, Santa Cruz, notes that multiverse models are speculative and lean more toward philosophy than science. Critics argue that because we cannot directly observe other universes, the multiverse hypothesis is impossible to test or falsify, making it more of a theoretical construct than a scientific theory. It is not 'science' since it cannot be proven by observation or experimentation. The scientific criterion of falsifiability also comes into play here, according to which a theory is held to be genuinely scientific only if it is possible in principle to establish that it is false.

Besides all of that, the multiverse explanation violates Ockham’s razor (also known as the ‘law of parsimony’) which holds that, when faced with competing explanations for the same phenomenon, the simplest is likely the correct one. In this case the simplest explanation for design is the existence of a designer i.e. the Creator of the Universe. In other words, the early founders of science (Newton and his contemporaries) were right all along. If anything, modern scientific discoveries have revealed more complexity and design in the universe than was even possible to discover in Newton's time. From the infinitesimal to the super-huge, incredible complexity of design is found everywhere in God's great universe, and especially in Mankind.

Why is that? It is because YHWH created the universe, and He created Man in His own image, for a purpose. He didn't create all of this so He could just ignore us. Not at all. Actually, it is we who ignore Him, and have generally chosen to ignore Him throughout the sad history of our race, often even claiming He doesn't exist. How foolish is that?

Really, how much sense does it make that He would design and create this amazing universe, with mankind as His star accomplishment, only to ignore us? We should expect Him to communicate with us, to have a relationship with us, who were created
"in His image." That only makes sense, considering all He has done to bring us into existence. There is one foundational place where that communication can be found. Let me tell you, the veracity of that amazing book remains beyond reasonable doubt. That's why Newton studied the Bible. That's why I study the Bible. How about you?

The Creator has a remnant of people in the earth who are uniquely His, dedicated to Him. To them He said: "Let them build Me a Sanctuary, that I may reside in their midst." Ex 25:8

His purpose has always included residing with His people, which is why He instructed our forebears of faith to build Him a Sanctuary in which His presence could supernaturally reside among His people. God does not change. This is still His desire and intention.

Here at Tsiyon we literally live to do His will. He gave me a mission, and I have been working it for over 40 years.
