Rising Lion Victory

From Eliyahu

The news has not stopped buzzing this week about the attack of the USA on Iran's nuclear program. No doubt, you know those facts. I have a bigger interest to discuss in these events. Namely, what does all of this mean in Bible prophecy?

Before we get into that, let's consider Iran's track record over this last decade. Actually, to be clear here, we are talking about Iran's criminal government, the IRGC, not the people of Iran itself. When we speak of rogue regimes in our world today, one name consistently stands out - the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRGC). Not just because of its aggression abroad, but because of its cruelty at home. As we examine its campaign against Israel, we must understand something about the character of the IRGC regime. Consider this: the regime has been waging a brutal war against its own people.

A War on the Iranian People

In the streets of Tehran, in the prisons of Evin, and across provinces like Kurdistan and Baluchestan, Iranians - especially women, minorities, and dissidents - have lived under fear and repression for decades.

When Mahsa Jina Amini died in police custody in 2022 after being arrested for her hijab, she became a symbol. Her death sparked a nationwide uprising, led by women and girls demanding freedom. The government’s response was swift, savage, and unrelenting. Children were shot in the streets. Protesters were hanged from cranes. Families were silenced with threats, arrests, and torture.

In 2024 alone, nearly a thousand executions were carried out. Many were political prisoners. Others were ethnic minorities. The regime’s message is clear: dissent is treason, and any identity outside its mold is a punishable offense.

But the regime’s crackdown extends beyond political dissenters and ethnic minorities. Religious minorities, particularly Christians and Bible believers of any stripe, are subject to harassment, imprisonment, and surveillance. Converts face harsh punishments - labeled as threats to national security simply for practicing their faith. Underground home Bible meetings are raided. Bibles are confiscated. And Iranian believers in Messiah, are frequently denied employment, education, and legal protections.

In Iran, faith itself is treated as subversion by the
IRGC. And this adds another layer to the regime’s identity  - one not only hostile to political freedom, but to basic religious liberties as well.

This isn’t just a country with a poor human rights record. This is a regime at war with its own people - their minds, their bodies, their voices. That is why Israel can truly say their war is not with the repressed Iranian people. It is against their oppressors.

A Doctrine of Hatred Toward Israel

The same brutality that crushes citizens at home fuels IRGC’s obsession abroad - especially with the Jewish state of Israel. Iran doesn’t hide its intent; it broadcasts it.

The Supreme Leader of IRGC has called Israel “a cancerous tumor” that must be destroyed. Banners in Tehran boast that Tel Aviv could be obliterated in “400 seconds.”

In 2019, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, then deputy commander of IRGC’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated: “Our strategy is to erase Israel from the global political map.” He warned that a war with Israel would end in its elimination. (Ironic, since war with Israel later led to his own elimination.)

On Quds Day, young Iranians are paraded through the streets to chant death to Israel - a ritual of indoctrination designed to breed hatred, not hope. This rhetoric isn’t empty. It is an articulation of policy. IRGC doesn’t view Israel as a rival state. It views Israel as an enemy to be erased, much as it views some of its own citizens.

IRGC Strategy: Proxy Warfare and Plausible Deniability

Since 2015, IRGC’s efforts to destroy Israel have escalated through a shadow war that has stretched from Iran, through Iraq, Syria, and on to Lebanon and Gaza, extending from Damascus to the Red Sea.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps - particularly the Quds Force - has built a network of militant groups known as the “Axis of Resistance.” These include:

Hezbollah, in Lebanon: armed with tens of thousands of Iranian rockets and embedded along Israel’s northern border.

Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, in Gaza: recipients of Iranian funds (at least $350 million annually and billions from other sources), training, and weapons, responsible for barrages of rocket attacks and deadly incursions.

The Houthis, in Yemen: whose missiles have targeted both Israel and global shipping routes in solidarity with Iran’s campaign.

Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria, who serve as additional pawns in Tehran’s regional chessboard.

It is notable that billions of dollars are covertly diverted from the UN and from USA through NGOs and other means to support these terrorist organizations. The U.S. Treasury and State Department have been actively sanctioning individuals and entities involved in these schemes.

For example, this month (June 2025), the U.S. sanctioned five individuals and five sham charities for funneling money to Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) under the cover of humanitarian work. Translation: be very careful what you are donating to. They may ask you to donate to help needy children, while the real outcome is to supply terrorists with guns and bombs that will kill children.

The terrorist proxy network has given
IRGC the tools to surround and harass Israel without direct confrontation. It has provided them plausible deniability while waging asymmetric warfare - terrorism wrapped in ambiguity.

But the mask slips. IRGC celebrated when Hamas massacred 1,200 people in Israel in 2023 - a brazen act of war that shattered any illusion that Iran acts in defense. With that horrid act the IRGC regime overplayed its hand, and roused the rising lion.

The Bigger Picture: Why the West Calls it a Rogue State

The term “rogue state” is not a slur. It’s a classification - reserved for regimes that defy international law, sponsor terrorism, brutalize their populations, and pursue goals through violence and intimidation.

IRGC fits this description with precision.

It shelters terrorists and supplies them with deadly technology. It tramples human rights, especially women’s rights and it executes protesters. It funds wars, foments instability, and seeks to rewrite the map of the Middle East - not through diplomacy, but destruction. And while many Iranians long for freedom, their voices are silenced - not by foreign enemies, but by their own government.

Brothers and sisters, this war is not a conflict of equal grievances. This is the story of a regime that has made the annihilation of Israel a national mission and the oppression of its own people a daily policy. The world needs to recognize this for what it is: a regime that is dangerous not just to Israel, but to its region, to its citizens, and to any reasonable society that values human dignity and peace.

Thankfully, by Divine Providence, the dark plan of the Ayatollah has been dismantled and the power of the regime has been broken. Oh, yes, there is some bluster and hot air from opposing parties, but nothing of lasting significance. Even as I write IRGC is seeing its final end and a free people are emerging in Iran. The bottom line is this: The board has been cleared for a whole new game, and now it is a new day for the Middle East.
