How Should the Righteous Respond? What
do we do when the world seems bent on
silencing truth? When division feels
inevitable? When hostility is the norm?
Here are four Scriptural responses:
Romans 12:17–21 tells us not to repay
evil for evil. But it also tells us to
overcome evil with good. Let’s remember
this:
“Repay no one evil for evil.
Respect what is honorable in the
sight of all men. If it is possible,
as much as it is up to you, be at
peace with all men. Don't seek
revenge yourselves, beloved, but
give place to God's wrath. For it is
written, “Vengeance belongs to Me; I
will repay, says the Lord.”
Therefore, if your enemy is hungry,
feed him. If he is thirsty, give him
a drink; for in doing so, you will
heap coals of fire on his head.
Don't be overcome by evil, but
overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:17-21
Overcoming evil with good means we don’t
shrink back. We speak truth with grace
and courage - even when it costs us.
Speak with Clarity, Not Contempt -
Colossians 4:6 says our speech should be
“always with grace, seasoned with
salt.” We don’t need to shout. But
we do need to speak. Silence in the face
of evil is not neutrality - its
surrender.
Build Kingdom Outposts of Courage -
Hebrews 10:24–25 urges us to “spur one
another on toward love and good deeds…
encouraging one another.” Isolation
breeds despair. The righteous must
gather, strengthen, and equip each
other. Sometimes the remnant cannot
avoid a measure of isolation for a
while. But you can join with us online
at Tsiyon on a regular basis, while you
work to gather other remnant folks
around you.
Accept Division as a Refining Fire -
Malachi 3:2–3 describes the need for a
refiner. Division reveals who’s truly
committed. It purifies the remnant. It
clarifies the mission. And it prepares
us for what’s next.
Hope Beyond the Fracture - It’s tempting
to despair. To believe that society is
too far gone, so that there is nothing
we can do. But Scripture never promised
ease - it promised endurance. It never
guaranteed comfort - it guaranteed
conflict. And it never said the
righteous would be popular - it says we
will be preserved. There are still many
who need to hear that message.
Isaiah 10:20–22 speaks of a remnant. It
says:
“It will come to pass in that day
that the remnant of Israel, and those
who have escaped from the house of Jacob
will no more again lean on him who
struck them, but shall lean on YHWH, the
Holy One of Israel, in truth. A remnant
will return, even the remnant of Jacob,
to the mighty God. For though your
people, Israel, are like the sand of the
sea, only a remnant of them will return.
A destruction is determined, overflowing
with righteousness. For the Lord, YHWH
of Hosts, will make a full end, and that
determined, in the midst of all the
earth.” Isaiah 10:20-23
A remnant - a faithful few who hold fast
when others fall away. That’s our
calling. Not to fix everything. Not to
force unity on the world. But to remain
faithful through it all. And in that
faithfulness, we become a light. Not
everyone will welcome the light. Most
will resist. Some will divide. But some
will be drawn. There is a remnant - and
that’s where hope for the righteous
lives, here in these final days.
Division hurts. It’s painful to see
families torn, communities fractured,
and truth rejected. But it’s not the end
of the story. It’s part of the process.
The refining. The revealing. The
preparation.
So let’s not be alarmed by division and
even hatred. Let’s be faithful through
it. Let’s speak truth. Live righteously.
Love boldly. And trust that our God who
sees the end from the beginning is still
at work - separating, sanctifying, and
ultimately restoring.
Remember,
this is where He says all of this will
end up:
“According to his promise, we
look for new heavens and a new
earth, in which righteousness
dwells.” 2 Peter 3:13
The Kingdom of Messiah is in fact the
only hope for mankind. Which brings me
