From Eliyahu

Tonight at sundown, October 7, 2025, marks the start of the 1st day of Sukkot. I’ve prepared a special presentation for you tonight, entitled, Kings of Chaos. You will find the study of these three kings very timely.

What does it mean to lead faithfully when the world’s empires press in from every side? This question confronted the kings of Judah 2,600 years ago, and again confronts the leaders of the Jewish state today. In fact, I think we all know that the State of Israel is in the crucible right now, in which every step and every decision is fraught with potential peril, or could result in substantial blessings. It all depends on making a string of right decisions all along the path – and of course, on the providence of the God of Israel.

Right now we are seeing an unmistakable potential for a time of peace opening up ahead. Personally, I want that for the same reasons we all want to see peace, but I also have another reason: I believe such a peace will make the way for the return of the faithful remnant from all the tribes of Israel back to the Land.

All of us who see that, need to be praying for the decision-makers in Israel. It can help us pray effectively to consider examples from the past. The kings of Judah did not rule in easy times. Some faced the crushing dominance of foreign empires. Others faced instability at home. Still others were caught between competing powers and forced to make decisions that would ripple for generations.

Pressures came in many forms:

  • External enemies - threatening invasion or demanding submission.

  • Internal politics - where factions, conspiracies, and rival interests undermined stability.

  • Public opinion - that often preferred compromise or convenience over costly obedience to YHWH.

  • Alliances with great powers – sometimes a lifeline for survival, yet with the constant danger of slipping from friendship into vassalage.

These same kinds of pressures have not vanished. The Jewish state today lives in a volatile region, with hostile enemies, shifting alliances, and powerful nations watching closely.

Enemies at the door bring one kind of threat.

Internal division and political turmoil create another.

And the weight of public opinion — both domestic and international — can be as heavy as any army.

What is the difference between an alliance with a friendly power, and a dependence so deep that a nation is treated more like a vassal than a sovereign equal?

These are not abstract questions. They are the very real calculations leaders face — and they mirror the challenges of ancient kings.

Empires rise and fall, but the pressure remains the same. The kings of Judah lived it. The leaders in Israel today live it. And in our own way, so do we.

Whether in government, community, or personal life, we all face the tension between compromise and conviction, convenience and faithfulness, fear and trust in YHWH.

The great question is not simply how to survive geopolitically, but how to remain steadfast spiritually. For leaders and for individuals alike, the ultimate choice is where to place your trust: in human alliances alone, or in YHWH, the Rock who does not change.

This brings us back to tonight’s live stream, our latest episode from our Prophets, Kings, and the King of Kings seminar. This episode is entitled Kings of Chaos.
