From Eliyahu

As I write wars are raging and people are dying because of the clash of governments. Here in the USA most of us are aware of the Ukraine/Russia war and the military action now underway between the USA and allies and Iran and allies. Beyond that most of us dont know much about wars and conflicts around the world.

Scripture says that in the last days there would be wars and rumors of war, so I thought I would find some stats on that for the 21st Century. Be aware that there is no one source of this information. It has to be pieced together from many different sources, and even then it doesnt include everything.

In the end I resorted to AI to pull estimates together for these statistics. I used ChatGBT for this, and it got hung up and stopped, and had to be started over at least three times, before it could get to final numbers. That gives you some idea of why I couldnt reliably pull these numbers together the old fashioned way. Anyhow, chances are, the actual numbers are higher than these estimates because the numbers mount faster than the statistics can be counted. Also, due to the chaos of war a lot goes uncounted. Heres what Ive got:

Wars and Conflicts in the world in the 21st Century:

Nations involved: More than 170 nations.

Combatant Deaths: (direct conflict deaths, 2000 to 2025): 3 - 8 million (method differences explain spread).

Civilian Deaths: 2+ million.

Displaced Persons: (end-2024): 123 million.

Although I think the estimates of deaths are probably a lot less than actual deaths, even this number is significant millions of people who were killed in wars and conflicts in the 21st Century.

123 million displaced people certainly helps to explain the social unrest the world has been experiencing during this same time period.

Perhaps the most surprising number here is the number of nations engaged in wars and conflicts - 170+ out of a total of 197 nations in the world! Thats a lot of wars and rumors of wars in the 21st Century!

Now, lets add to those millions killed in war-fighting an estimate of deaths of people actually killed by their own government (called democide). A current example is Iran. Recently the government there is reported to have killed tens of thousands of Iranian protesters, but they have hidden the numbers killed. This happens in many places that go unreported. Because many states conceal or underreport repression and executions, a reasonable inclusive estimate is that governments have caused roughly 20+ million (up to 30 million) deaths to their own citizens worldwide since 2000.

Between war deaths and killings of its citizens by government we are looking at something like 30 to 40 million government-related deaths since 2000.

When soberly aware of such numbers I think it is fair to ask: How well are the governments of the world doing in righteously governing the world? Do these numbers suggest a world of true peace and security for everyone, or a lethal world in which citizens may be targeted for death by their own, or another, government?

Really, the greatest need of humanity is righteous government, and in this high-tech 21st century world, righteous government seems more elusive than ever before.

What we need is a righteous king with the wisdom, resources and power to rule the world in righteousness. We need the Messiah!

Do you know that very King has already been installed in office? This was prophesied long ago:

"Rejoice greatly, daughter of Tsiyon!

Shout, daughter of Jerusalem!

Behold, your King comes to you!

He is righteous, and having salvation;

lowly, and riding on a donkey,

even on a colt, the foal of a donkey." Zechariah 9:9

 And

"Behold, YHWH has proclaimed to the end of the earth,

Say to the daughter of Tsiyon,

Behold, your salvation comes!

Behold, his reward is with him,

and his work before him." Isaiah 62:11

These two passages are quoted by Matthew as he describes the Triumphal Entry of Yeshua as King into Jerusalem. Yes, Yeshua the Messiah already made His appearance as King in Jerusalem, as he rode into the city humbly upon a donkey and was received as King by His people. He was bringing salvation with Him that day - shortly thereafter sacrificing Himself to save His people. To all of the truly saved He has continued to be accepted as King ever since. We acknowledge Him as our one true King, because such He truly is.

As Scripture states:

..He [the Father] raised Him [the Son] from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. Ephesians 1:18-21

Yes, Yeshua is King right now. As Isaiah wrote of Messiah in foreseeing His Triumphal Entry, His work was before Him. In other words, there was work to be done from His position in heaven before visibly returning to Earth to set everything in order here.

Revelation 1-3 shows Him at work in the assemblies of His people, admonishing, correcting, commending, and preparing a Kingdom people. It is His people that have been His focus for these many centuries, that He might have a spotless bride at the end of the Age, at His Return.

In this final generation He continues that important work, but has also taken a greater hand in the affairs of the nations, as we find in Revelation 5 and 6. He has taken the End-Time scroll out of the hand of the Father and has set about removing its seals.

As each seal has been removed major forces have been unleashed into the Earth that shape the affairs of the world, bending them to the fulfillment of prophecy and preparing some people of the world for judgment, and some for deliverance, and all to choose which path they will follow. In effect choosing their own fate.

At the end of this process Messiah will return, to set up His Kingdom in Jerusalem to rule over all of the nations. When that happens all will know that Yeshua is the King of kings and Lord of lords. The nations will try to hang on to their power and will make war against Him, but He will prevail.

"I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True. In righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has names written and a name written which no one knows but he himself. He is clothed in a garment sprinkled with blood. His name is called The Word of God. The armies which are in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in white, pure, fine linen. Out of his mouth proceeds a sharp, double-edged sword, that with it he should strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He treads the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty. He has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." Revelation 19:11-16

This will truly be the war to end all wars. After that His righteous rule will be in direct control of the world forever. His government, His Kingdom, will reign forever, to the eternal blessing of every person who will bow the knee to the only King who is actually worthy of such adoration. King Yeshua! You alone are worthy! [See Dan 2, Rev 21, Isaiah 11:1-9, Psalm 2 etc]
