UFOs and the Occult: The Space-Age Mask of an Ancient Deception - Part 3

From Hidden Masters to Space Brothers

After the flying-saucer age began, the phenomenon did not merely appear in the sky.

It began to speak.

Men and women claimed that beings from beyond earth were communicating with them. These beings were often described as wise, advanced, peaceful, spiritually evolved, and deeply concerned about the future of mankind. They came with warnings. They came with teaching. They came with promises. They came with a message.

This is where the UFO story moves beyond sightings. It becomes revelation. And for Bible believers, that is the line that must not be crossed without serious discernment.

In the early years of the flying-saucer age, a number of people claimed not merely to see strange craft, but to meet or communicate with the beings who operated them. These figures came to be known as “contactees.”

The early contactee message was usually different from many later alien-abduction accounts. It was often optimistic and spiritual. The beings were commonly presented as benevolent visitors, sometimes called “Space Brothers.”

They were said to come from Venus, Mars, Saturn, or other worlds. Some were described as human-looking, beautiful, wise, and spiritually advanced. They warned humanity about nuclear war. They spoke of world peace. They urged mankind to evolve. They called for unity among nations. They often suggested that earth’s religions were partial, limited, or misunderstood expressions of a larger cosmic truth.

That is important. The message was not merely, “We are from another planet.” The message was, “We have come to guide you.” That makes the contactee movement religious in character, even when it used the language of space travel.

One of the most famous early contactees was George Adamski. He claimed to have seen and photographed flying saucers, and he became widely known for his stories of contact with friendly beings from other planets. In Adamski’s world, the visitors were not monsters. They were not invaders. They were not merely pilots of machines. They were higher beings — advanced, noble, peaceful, and concerned about humanity’s self-destructive path.

This had enormous appeal in the early atomic age. The world had just seen the destructive power of nuclear weapons. The Cold War was rising. Many feared mankind might destroy itself. So the idea that wiser beings from the heavens had come to warn us was emotionally powerful. But from a biblical standpoint, we must ask a deeper question: Who has the authority to teach mankind?

If a being appears with a message of peace, unity, and enlightenment, that does not automatically mean the message is from YHWH. Scripture does not tell us to accept a message because it sounds peaceful. Scripture tells us to test the spirit behind the message. The issue is not whether the messenger claims to be loving. The issue is whether the message agrees with the Word of YHWH.

George Hunt Williamson is another important figure in this early contactee world. He was associated with Adamski and became known for his own UFO-related writings and claims of contact. What makes Williamson especially relevant to our series is the occult character of the communication involved. The early contactee world did not rely only on telescopes, photographs, or physical sightings. It often included automatic writing, channeling, telepathic communication, and messages received from unseen or nonhuman intelligences.

That should get our attention. When a person receives messages from invisible beings through channeling, automatic writing, trance states, or psychic contact, the Bible already has categories for that. It does not matter if the being is called a spirit, a master, an angel, an extraterrestrial, an ascended teacher, or a Space Brother. The method itself is spiritually dangerous.

YHWH did not leave His people without warning:

“There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to YHWH.” - Deuteronomy 18:10–12

This is not a small matter. YHWH forbids His people from seeking knowledge through occult contact. That prohibition does not become irrelevant because the communicating entity claims to be from Venus.

Hidden Masters

To understand the early contactee message, we must look at what came before it. Before the Space Brothers, there were hidden masters.

In Theosophy and related occult movements, spiritual teachers or “masters” were believed to guide the evolution of humanity from behind the scenes. These beings were said to possess higher wisdom, ancient knowledge, and spiritual power. They were often described as hidden adepts, elder brothers, or advanced beings who watched over mankind and communicated through selected messengers.

Notice how familiar that sounds. The hidden masters were above ordinary humanity.
They possessed secret knowledge. They communicated through chosen intermediaries. They taught that mankind must evolve spiritually. They promoted a universal wisdom behind all religions. They pointed toward a coming transformation.

Now compare that with the early Space Brother message.

The Space Brothers were above ordinary humanity. They possessed superior knowledge. They communicated through chosen contactees. They taught that mankind must evolve. They promoted world unity and a higher cosmic understanding. They warned of crisis and promised guidance toward a new age.

The costume changed. The old occult master put on a space suit.

From Spiritism to Space-Age Revelation

This is the heart of the matter. The early UFO contactee movement did not emerge in a spiritual vacuum. It grew in a world already shaped by spiritism, Theosophy, occultism, psychic research, esoteric religion, science fiction, and postwar anxiety. Many people were ready to believe that ordinary religion was too narrow, that hidden wisdom existed beyond Scripture, and that mankind needed a new revelation for a new age.

Flying saucers gave that hope a modern form. The 19th-century medium might say, “The spirits have spoken.” The Theosophist might say, “The Masters have revealed hidden wisdom.” The contactee might say, “The Space Brothers have brought a message from beyond the earth.” Different vocabulary. Same pattern.

A nonhuman or superhuman intelligence brings a message through a chosen human channel, and that message competes with the revelation already given by YHWH. That is why the contactee movement matters. We are not merely studying strange claims from the 1950s. We are studying how the occult adapts itself to modern expectations The old occult world learned the language of the space age.

The Same Pattern Continues Today

Some readers may think this kind of UFO spirituality belonged only to the 1950s contactee era. That would be a mistake. The same pattern continues today.

In different countries, groups meet under the night sky and attempt to initiate contact with UFOs or nonhuman intelligences through meditation, focused intention, telepathic invitation, and other consciousness-based practices. This is often called CE-5, or “Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind,” meaning human-initiated contact.

This is highly significant. These people are not simply watching the sky. They are trying to make contact. They are opening themselves, focusing their minds, sending invitations, and expecting a response from beings they believe to be extraterrestrial, interdimensional, or otherwise beyond ordinary human life. From a biblical perspective, this is not a neutral practice.

Whether the beings are called extraterrestrials, star family, higher intelligences, interdimensionals, or peaceful visitors, the spiritual pattern is familiar. Mankind seeks contact with nonhuman powers through altered consciousness, meditation, intention, and invitation. That is not science.

That is spiritism. The old séance became the skywatch. The medium became the contact facilitator. The spirit guide became the extraterrestrial intelligence. The circle gathered in a dark room became a group gathered under the stars. The mask changed. The practice remained recognizable.

What did the Space Brothers usually teach?

The details varied, but several themes appeared again and again:

Humanity is in danger.
Nuclear war threatens the planet.
Higher beings are watching us.
Earth must join a larger cosmic community.
Mankind must evolve spiritually.
Religious divisions must be overcome.
All faiths are expressions of a larger universal truth.
The old ways must give way to a new age.
Selected contactees have been chosen to deliver the message.

Those same themes remain alive in modern UFO spirituality. Today the language may include consciousness, vibration, frequency, interdimensional contact, planetary awakening, human-initiated contact, disclosure, and ascension. But the basic claim is the same: mankind is ready for a higher revelation from nonhuman intelligences.

Some of those themes may sound noble at first. Who does not want peace? Who does not want mankind to avoid destruction? Who does not want people to stop killing one another? But a message can use good-sounding words while leading people away from YHWH. The question is not whether the message says “peace.” The question is: peace on whose terms?

The prophets of Israel warned against false peace:

“They have healed also the hurt of my people superficially, saying, ‘Peace, peace!’ when there is no peace.” - Jeremiah 6:14

A message of peace without repentance is not the peace of YHWH. A message of unity without truth is not the unity of the Spirit. A message of enlightenment that bypasses Scripture is not light. It is deception wearing light.

Another Gospel - Paul gave one of the clearest warnings in Scripture:

“But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any gospel other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed.” - Galatians 1:8

Paul does not say, “If a heavenly being appears, believe him.”

He says the opposite. Even if a messenger from heaven appears, the message must be judged by the gospel already delivered. That means Bible believers are not required to be impressed by the source of a message. A being may claim to come from heaven. It may appear radiant. It may speak of peace. It may speak of the future. It may speak of human destiny. It may even claim to correct mankind’s understanding of Scripture.

But if it brings another gospel, it is to be rejected.

This is directly relevant to the UFO contactee message.

Many contactee claims, when examined closely, do not merely add information about planets or spacecraft. They reinterpret man’s place in the universe. They reduce biblical revelation to one piece of a larger cosmic puzzle. They suggest that higher beings have guided the religions of the world. They make Yeshua one teacher among many, rather than the unique Son of God and Messiah.

That is not harmless speculation.

That is another gospel.

************

As our newsletter series on UFOs is making clear, deception is rampant. Here is one big question many people ask: What do I want from God?

That is a common question, but that question is a set-up for deception, because the enemy is always happy to use what you want as bait. If you aren't getting what you want from God you might be persuaded to think: maybe the Space Brothers can accommodate you.

The truth is, our Father in heaven knows better than we do what we really need and why. Faith is about trusting Him, not stressing over what we think we want. The big thing is, we must know YHWH, and we must know His Son. When we truly do then the question on our mind will be: What does God want?
