In the last issue in this series, we looked at the early contactee movement. We saw that the UFO phenomenon did not merely appear in the sky. It began to speak. Men claimed that Space Brothers, higher intelligences, or visitors from beyond the earth were bringing messages to mankind. That opened one stream of the UFO mystery: the stream of occult communication.

In this issue, we turn to another stream: hidden technology. The UFO story has always had these two major branches. One branch says: beings from beyond are communicating with mankind. The other branch says: hidden powers possess advanced technology, secret craft, and knowledge beyond what the public is allowed to know.

Sometimes these two branches run separately. Sometimes they come together. When they do, the result is especially troubling: occult contact joined to technological power. That is why we must discuss Vril, Thule, Nazi occultism, Operation Paperclip, and the shadow of secret weapons.

This is not an easy subject. There is documented history here. There is also legend, exaggeration, fraud, and material that cannot be verified. So we must move carefully. We do not need to prove every story to recognize the pattern.

Before going further, we should set a rule. We must not claim legends as facts. Some people are careless with this subject. They take every story about Nazi flying saucers, underground bases, Vril women, alien contact, Antarctica, and antigravity craft, and they present it all as proven history. That is not our approach.

But we should also avoid the opposite error. We should not dismiss an entire pattern simply because some details are unproven. The occult is hidden by nature. Secret programs are hidden by design. Legends may grow around real events. Myths may preserve distorted memories. False documents may circulate around genuine mysteries. Rumor, secrecy, deception, intelligence activity, and occult imagination can all become tangled together.

So the wise question is not merely: “Can we prove every detail?” The better question is “What can be documented, what remains unproven, and what pattern appears when these materials are viewed together?”

That is how we will approach the Nazi shadow in the UFO story.

The Occult Nazi Background: There really was an occult and mythic background to some of the ideological currents that fed into early 20th-century German nationalism. This does not mean Nazism was simply “an occult movement.” It was political, racial, militaristic, revolutionary, anti-biblical, and murderous. Its roots were many. We should not reduce it to just occultism. But neither should we ignore the occult and mythic currents that were present in that world.

Before and around the rise of Nazism, there were völkisch movements, racial mystics, Germanic myth-makers, Ariosophic teachers, secret societies, and writers who blended nationalism, race theory, pagan imagery, Theosophy, runes, Atlantis-type speculation, and supposed ancient Aryan wisdom. This was a world obsessed with hidden origins, superior bloodlines, lost knowledge, and spiritualized destiny.

That atmosphere illuminates Nazi origins. The Nazi world did not grow out of ordinary politics alone. It also drew energy from myth, occult imagination, racial religion, and the desire to remake the world through power. That is why the Thule Society [pronounced TOO-luh]] and related circles continue to attract attention.

The Thule Society was part of the post-World War I Munich environment of nationalist, anti-communist, racial, and occult-tinged thought. It was not the whole source of Nazism. But it did exist within the same cultural swamp from which early Nazi politics emerged.

The name “Thule” itself points to a mythic northern origin - a distant, hidden, almost sacred place associated with ancient racial destiny in the imagination of some Germanic occult nationalists. This is important because the same basic pattern later appears in UFO mythology.

Hidden origins. Superior beings. Secret knowledge. Chosen bloodlines. Ancient wisdom. A coming transformation. World power. Whether the language is ancient Aryan mysticism or modern extraterrestrial contact, the pattern is familiar: mankind is told that the key to the future lies in hidden knowledge from a source outside the revelation of YHWH. That is spiritually dangerous.

The Vril Society: The word “Vril” did not begin as a Nazi program. It comes from Edward Bulwer-Lytton’s 1871 novel The Coming Race. In that story, Vril is a mysterious power possessed by a hidden subterranean race. Later, some occult-minded people treated the idea as if it pointed to a real hidden force. Eventually, Vril became part of a much larger UFO-occult legend.

In that later legend, a secret Vril Society was said to be connected to the Thule Society. Female mediums, often associated with the name Maria Orsic or Orsitsch, allegedly received telepathic messages from beings from the Aldebaran star system. These messages were said to include plans for advanced flying disc craft. Those plans were allegedly passed into secret German programs, resulting in Nazi flying saucers. That is the story as it is often told.

But we must say plainly: this full Vril/Aldebaran/female-medium saucer story is not documented and verified. We do not have solid contemporary documentation proving that Maria Orsic led such a group, that Aldebaran beings transmitted spacecraft plans, or that the Vril Society were involved with channeling flying saucer technology for Nazi Germany. As to the existence of the Vril Society, or something like the group under another name, there are at least two historians from the period that stated that such a group did exist, though not endorsing the entire story as fact. To be fair to those who hold to the Vril story, they would say we should not expect a secret occult group to be well document, since the whole point of such a group is secrecy.

At any rate, if we can’t prove it why discuss it? Because even if the story may be legendary, it perfectly displays the pattern we are tracing. Nonhuman contact. Mediumistic communication. Hidden knowledge. Secret technology. Superior beings. Ancient origins. A chosen elite. A coming occult new age. The Vril story may not be provable as history, but it is deeply revealing as mythology. It shows how easily occult revelation and advanced technology could be involved in one powerful UFO origin story.

A legend is not proof. A legend may contain falsehood, exaggeration, misunderstanding, or deliberate deception. But legends often grow around things people fear, desire, suspect, or partially know. A legend may not tell us exactly what happened, but it can tell us what kind of story people are prepared to believe. The Vril legend tells us that some people suspect a direct connection between occult contact and advanced flying technology.

That idea did not arise in a vacuum. It grew in a world shaped by real German occult-racial thought, real wartime secret weapons, real postwar intelligence activity, and real public fascination with flying saucers. The Vril story reveals a recurring theme in the UFO mythos: hidden spiritual knowledge birthing unique technological power.

Foo Fighters and Secret Weapons: During World War II, Allied pilots reported strange aerial phenomena that came to be known as foo fighters. These were often described as glowing lights or objects that appeared near aircraft. The pilots did not naturally interpret them as friendly Space Brothers or visitors from distant galaxies. They were flying in a war. So the first suspicion was obvious: Could these be enemy secret weapons?

That wartime question is important. By the time the modern flying-saucer age began in 1947, the world already knew that secret weapons were real. Germany had developed advanced rockets, jet aircraft, guided weapons, and other technologies that shocked the Allies. So when strange things appeared in the skies after the war, it was not irrational to wonder whether hidden human technology might be involved.

A Nazi Origin Is Plausible: This is one reason the Nazi-shadow stream in UFO history cannot simply be brushed aside as stupidity. The question is not whether every Nazi saucer story is true. Many are not proven. Some are almost certainly exaggerated or false. The question is whether postwar secrecy, captured German technology, military aerospace development, and public flying-saucer reports formed a real historical environment in which such ideas could take root. The answer is yes.

Operation Paperclip gives this issue a solid historical anchor. After World War II, the United States brought German and Austrian scientists, engineers, technicians, and specialists into American programs. National Archives records identify personnel dossiers for more than 1,500 German and foreign scientists, technicians, and engineers brought to the U.S. under Paperclip and similar programs. All of them had worked for the Nazis. Some had even been SS. Their expertise was used in rocketry, missiles, aerospace, aviation medicine, and other military or scientific fields. This is not legend. This is documented history.

Operation Paperclip may not prove Nazi flying saucers. It may not prove Vril. It may not prove Aldebaran messages. It may not prove antigravity craft. But it does prove something important: German wartime technical knowledge entered American military and aerospace programs after the war. That means the postwar UFO era began in a world where secret technology, captured German expertise, military secrecy, and space-age ambitions were all real. Perhaps it is no coincidence that the flying saucer sightings began in 1947, right after many of the Paperclip Nazis started working on secret projects in New Mexico.

This is why a human-technology explanation for some UAP reports is more historically grounded than the casual claim that beings are routinely crossing interstellar distances to visit earth. We do not need to jump first to aliens.

It's All About Power: Human secrecy is real. Human ambition is real. Human technology is real. Human deception is real. And human beings seeking power through forbidden knowledge is also real. It is these very demonic traits that inspired the Nazis, and those who chose to preserve Nazis and Nazi secret technology. Eighty years have now transpired in which that technology could be perfected. Surely it is not impossible that knowledge of amazing machines could have been obtained by occult means and been developed by human beings, who have maintained an ET cover-story deception ever since.
